  1. I always text myself... send a message from my own mobile to my own mobile.. then in the morning, it's there as a text message unopened and i always think oh whats that ...open it up and yes now I remember.. ..

  3. BigO I gave my remark great thought and at first I thought I was out of line then I looked at your picture...(no not the one next to me bed)... looked at that blouse I mean shirt and your long hair..... no i'm sticking with my gut feeling on this one.
  4. "I sometimes forget that people 'pidgeon hole' certain tracks, while for me they are just brilliant pieces of 'Soul' music." To true..... what differnce does it make, call it what you will quality soul is quality soul.. And a good dancer is a good dancer...

  7. As I was some one who was once part of the Rocking scene.. not the rock'n'roll scene or rockabilly scene... The Rocking Scene.. I even met my wife at Hemsby at a Rocking weekender.......... You shouldn't try and pick up on a tv programe and think you understand it.. It's a bit like when you see Northern programes on telly.. they don't come across with the true picture... I didn't see the programe, but I bet they showed stereotype rockers.. not the well dressed Rocking crowd, that can pay anything upto £500 (I'm going back to what I know these prices are from about 13 years ago) for a Gab Jacket, I once paid £80 for a tie!!! 2nd hand shirts usually cost around the £80 mark for a good un.. (13 years ago) On the Rocking scene they still dig up new tunes ... Like any scene.. Lets stick to what we like moaning about .... Modern, Oldies X-over R'n'B etc... And leave other people alone..... This programe did they show the rods racing down the beech on a saturday afternoon... or 40's/50's pick up trucks full of beer and all your mates... belive me, people that do theese weekenders are into what they are in to, the same as us with our Northern... Unfortunatly the rocking scene has died a bit.. Cars (yanks and rods) are to expensive, clothes are getting rarer... One thing the Rocking scene has over the northern scene you get to dance with your wife and not on the other side of the room... :4:

  15. I know I shouldn't write this but hopefully it will be read how its ment not in anyway having a go at anyone, just putting a point accross about how I feel about so called Oldies.... The problem that comes up on here alot is the problem about over played oldies, and I read this everyday, I can understand where you are coming from, but I'm not as old as a lot of people on here, during the 80's I was a scooterist/mod for me then quality northern was "Love Machine " " Love on a mountain top" "Satisfaction Gaurented" There was better tracks but you get the idea.. Now I missed all the 70's overplayed stuff as I wasn't old enough.. I missed the 80's overplayed stuff because I was into another type of northern..... Love Machine etc ( My mate had that written on the panels of he's scooter did we take the pee out of him or what). I missed the early 90's overplayed stuff as I was in to the rocking scene. So i'm here now an average person who trys to go out every week. So when you say it's overplayed ... to me it's a new record, and there must be loads of people like myself. Now I appreciate and respect peoples knowledge, and I enjoy coming on here, I have learnt some intresting bits and pieces about this and that, but I don't think the scenes Stale. I think it could be that, Some of you were lucky enough to hear some records first time round but people like me are having there time now.. After all people like me are as much the future of Northern Soul as the people who have been into it from the start, we make up the numbers at do's, our money is as good as everyone else's, we help build the atmosphere in venues.. I sometimes get embarresed when we are out and a record comes on and someone says.... "Oh god not this old piece of "ship" I wish I had a pound for everytime i've heard this record". And i'll be thinking god this is excellent what did the dj say it was called.. So personaly I think yes there is aplace for so called Oldies, as I can't be the only one out there that dosn't know some of them.....OR AM I? :-) (-:
  16. ever seen or ever had!!!
  17. How nice was that....words are so right
  18. Spyder Turner has got to be the best Cheapie ever... (Well I think it is anyway..)
  19. Can anyone help me, has Tiny Powell's "Take me with you" been played out, if so when and where..? Tiny Powell "Take me with you" b/w "My time after while" Wax records W101 Thanks Mischief
  20. Blimey I honestly didn't know that... dig out them old 78's.... it's party time... I did have a version of Rudolph the red nose raindier on 78 by little smokey/boy robinson.. (was some name like that, anyway it was smokey robinson when he was a little boy)
  21. Sorry I don't mean this funny but how could you dj with 78's, record decks don't have 78rpm on them now.. If you turned up some where to dj and the decks did have it on, they would have to be quite an old piece of kit.. ... I supose if you found a track on 78 you would have to have it cut on to acetate... (they proberly weigh about the same..) ;-)
  22. Yeh we had a good un, I hear Hipshaker was good. We did have a problem with the sound monitor, it was in the corner of the room so if people dared to laugh it would set the lights off flashing.. Managed to unplug it in the end but the Landlord caught us... umm didn't stop me doing it again the next night.. As a whole we had a blinding weekend, managed to dj for about 5 hours over the weekend only repeating one of my records as it was a request, and not playing anything anyone else done.. Not bad seeing as I only had a small box and a 12" bag, cause I carried my records there on me scooter.. ;-)..
  23. Think Tim Brown (rare soul vinyl?) and beatin rytham in Manchester do packs..
  24. Getting away from politcs and every thing ... sorry but you can't do that, who ever you are.
  25. along similer lines.. I know scooter clubs that have put do's on outside of there manor (so to speak) and they don't work as you can upset the local clubs and they don't turn up so numbers are down.. Maybe if a promoter was to contact local do's and have a couple of local dj's, things might help.
