When I get asked to play something, i'll only play it if it will fit in or I have time to change the tempo or style of my set, I've done that quiet a few times if i'm playing stompers and someone asks for a midtempo 70's track i'll change the direction that my set is heading in, so I can play it. Heres a question for the dj's.. I've been asked in the past for a record that I havn't got, when I've said i havn't got it, I've been told by the person asking that another Dj that has been on has it.. And I should lend it off them, would you ask another DJ to lend a record, I know Andrew said Derek got it from a sales box, but asking another DJ, would you? I'll be honest here I wouldn't.

Worse one is when people ask for a record and you tell them you don't know it, and they say oh you must know it, its off that Cd "for Millonaires only volume --".. Or even when they sing it to you.. thats always quite funny.. "excusse me have you got BLAH BLAH BLAH" "No Sorry" "You must have it goes like this,.... something something Love you Baby, something something..... Oh you know it, go on you must know it it's a classic."

That will be me seeing as i'm still on me diet from January... and it's made me half the man I was...

But where do we draw the line?

I thought the Main room was across the board? to be honest I think this is a shame, if you send 70's and crossover up there aswell.. and what about tracks like "Kenny Thomas" Crazy World. "Alice Clark" Don't you care... "Frank Popps" Breakaway ...(when it came out). If they only get played upstairs, peoples knowledge will never expand. I'm sure when people used to go to the likes of Wigan etc... 85% of the music was blinding but now that there taste may have changed, and they have moved on. What would have happened if dj's didn't played the new sounds then in the main rooms. If you had, had to go off to a little room to hear it, would you have gone, or would you have only gone when the main room was stale because you knew everything that was being played? or would you have stopped going to the club all together by then because it all became much of a much? And where do we draw the line now? Heaven in the afternoon.... up or down? giving it all to you ..... up or down? I just want to fall in love .... ? I'll be around......? House for sale...? (sure you can all think of others these was off the top of my head tracks I love to play and dance to) So is the scene going backwards now as we seem to be splitting ourselves in 2 here... surley the Dj should know what to play in the room they are djing at. Or is it the same old story... The dj's...... They turn up 10 mins before there set... then play whats been played... (which can spoil an evening (you can always remeber the track that got 3 or 4 plays in a night)) Or they don't do there home work.. if they havn't been to a do before, they should ask the promoter what the crowd usualy like... (what style goes down well) How many times have you been to a do when the dj plays a type of music and know one dances ...(R'n'B - Modern - Whatever). they then play another one, know one dances.. so change the style... but know you get another 3 or 4 to follow.... Theres nothing wrong with playing across the board, what is wrong is thinking its a great record if they dance or not i'm still playing it.. (records I have chosen are only examples .... wigan was only an example.... but i'm sure you get the picture.)

I was having a look on Manships website and came across Chas & Dave.. not one record but 12 --- 9 differnt songs in all, so just wondered if some one is spinning them some where, and thats why he has them on he's web site RARE SOUL MAN. Is worth me buying them now before the price goes up! "gertcha"

Funny this got played out last night and a couple of us said that we hadn't heard it for a while, and you forget how good some of these tracks are...

I'm djing at a mates wedding, and for there first dance they wanted Ben e king's. Stand by me. I suggested they have a differn't version. So it was there own. I've got 3 differn't versions. Classius Clay - Spyder Turner and Jimmy Ruffin. I personaly prefere the Spyder Turner one.. (each to there own) So who else has coverd this, any females? (Should pass 1/2 hour in the office this afternoon)

We was in Club Chalets... heating could have been on 24hrs a day (electricity is free)... but it was too hot .. so we had too keep turning it off... i even slept on top of the covers sat night, when i got in (8.30 in the morning)... booked for next year at 9 am Saturday morning ....

was top wekkend to tired to make sense... uuuummmmm 4 nights exc.. going to bed need sleep,, legs hurt voice gone ears ringing..... top laughs with friends... Sunday waas the best night for me... Oh and while on the subject of bbookinng ... booked next years 9am Saturday morning.
