After a great year down at The Boat we start a new one with the Christmas special still fresh in our minds (what a night). Keeping the quality of music we have become to be known for still as important as ever. Our guest DJs are picked for what they can offer on the decks. This month we have invited Kitch to do his bit and Rick Bramhall is back by public demand. Following on from last months European weekender with a full house and already booked for next October we get back to our standard 8-1 monthly event. Our first guest (9:30-10:30) is Mark Hopes and its took me over 20 years to book Mark in repayment for those nights at Kirkby-in-Ashfield. (You cant accuse us of "You dj for me and i'll dj for you) The only question is why so long. Our second guest (10:30-11:30) is John Parker with one of the best collections known to man. 15 years for me. I only joined as some dude had a go at me and I needed to reply. Got to say Ive found SS very informative and good for buying and selling. Some of its members are mind blowing with info. Great events calendar to. -

Nottingham euro weekender over 30 DJs from U.K. and Italy Germany Spain music old classics to rare 60s and 70s Friday night the boat club 8pm till 3am sat night the boat club nighter 8pm till 6am Sunday at the archway venue rose and crown 500 derby road 1pm to midnight -
Looking forward to this, around 400 in last time and some quality music spun. Does the bar give credit?

Our first time here and what a surprise, music totally sublime start to finish. All sets full of quality with no fear of dance floor response - not that that was a problem. No Vibrations or Frankie Valli here. Just quality like Ray Pollard - This Time & The Young Brothers - What's Your Game, all night long. Hope you guys can make it down to The Boat, Nottingham next Friday for a similar night with Chris Dalton, Mick H, Rick Bramall & myself (little plug there) Well done - Mick.

Finally sorted out the music room after nearly 2 years at present address. I came across these 36 label scans I believe came from Nottingham Oddfellows, Leicester. Does anyone know if there was any others made? Regards Mick

All 4 of this months dj's were lucky enough to meet and chat with The Dal Larks in New Jersey (2006) Chris Dalton isn't on the picture - Maybe he took it? Bet you wouldn't of believed I was taller than Sammy Campbell

Yep - just heard it - sounds like she waits 3 seconds for a second go. Well spotted. I always thought the symbol came in to early at the beginning of Tommy Ridgley then disappears for a few seconds until the correct time. -

Friday night Rob Smith is unleashed to play his top end sounds here at the Boat. His collection of top end quality is unbelievable and doesn't always get to see the light of day (or dark of night in this case) This is well worth a trip to hear. Our resident Alex Gallagher is finally back from Canada after her 5 month visit, so two excellent reasons to pay a visit to this iconic soul club. Hope to see you there - Mick
