  3. Have you ever thought that they may be using your knowledge to find out whats worthwhile. Few years back I went into a record store in Johns town, built up a pile of about thirty 45 including two blank acetates uncut and unwritten labels, a lot of mirwood stuff etc They all disappeared of the counter while I was just getting near the end I know the store keeper removed them, after my rant he lifted a record box up with northern soul written on it. In the front was Cleveland Robinson love is a trap at $600 and Showmen Our love will grow at $150 and many more I knew I had been used and I hope his life went into a downward spiel from that day

I was recently told some lyrics to Mel Britts - shell come running back, they were Lord made man and eve made evil Next time it was played I payed attention and sure enough it was there several times Maybe you all knew this but I had never picked it up A couple of years ago I did a radio show to see if very well known records could be identified from a few lyrics ie Ring my bell that sways and tells or given you seen them give up thats what my freinds tell me to do (it took Dave Tidswell about 10 seconds for this one) So do you know any lyrics hidden away in our northern gems

  16. I had a long chat with Sammy on the first night he came over, not at any point did he mention he had copies for sale. Interestingly he did go into great length telling me about how he written, funded, owned, sang, made, sorted studio time, owned the label etc, etc, etc. I asked if it cost you everything you had at the time why didn't you save money and only put out a demo or a issue instead of both He replied That demo man I'm not going up that street Then quickly went on to his employment under George Blackwell

  18. A few years back I was enjoying a coffee with Gigi (The Charmains) wife of the late Herman Griffin / Lewis when out of the blue she mentioned that she originally sang I need you like a baby (Andrea Henry) and had it on a funny metal disc coved in vinyl, but her husband backed the second version by Andrea We search that house and garage but with no joy. Who knows one day she may find it and then it may take its place on a thread like this. Its that rare none of us have heard it (to the best of my knowledge)
  19. I was lucky enough to have the chalet next door to Richie Pitts at Prestatyn weekender 3 years running. He is a true gentleman, he told me that they came over hear touring as the Velours and were persuaded by Peter Springfellow to change there name to the Fantastic, He had moved to Sheffield and was enjoying his royalties from the theme music he had written for the TV show Black Adder He appeared at the weekender the first time as a booked artist in his own right and after that he kept turning out to help with backing
