  1. Not had the pleasure of attending the 100 club yet but it is on my list Seen all you guys play a 100 club special at Prestatyn in the redemption room and it was so refreshing to listen to stuff I didn't know but instantly wanted Keep it up. Mick
  2. Middle of August I had a week at the east cost. Half a day at Sutton on Sea and time to leave and I came across this shop. Literally had 5 mins to spare (parking and people waiting for me) looked through two piles - Some Motown - Pet Clark - Sand Shaw and that kind of thing + all the usual crap. Has any body been through this lot. Loads of 45 and albums. The 45 appeared to all be 60s & 70s UK no idea about the albums. Must be worth a visit if any one is local.
  3. Great advice about the record centers I have stuck my big stupid elbow on a UK - Ray Pollard - Drifter And my big stupid knee on a Gloria Parker - The Best Thing For You Baby Smashed them both Ggggrrrrhhhhhh
  4. OK thanks for all the input, looks like I was right and vocals are king, lol
  5. Yes the Instrumental is class but the girls make it magnificent I think your mum has good taste Young Hearts Unlimited Soulful strut - has soul but Barbara Acklin makes it magic, even Dusty makes it more soulful
  6. Dont want start an argument here, Fully understand comments on soul is from the heart and instrumentals cant tell the story of the lost love even so the musicians do ooozzee soul out of there instruments. Personnel the vocals finish it off for me
  7. Sidras theme is a good point The vocal always does better than the ins on the dance floor or it does at the places I go to.
  8. I know these tracks are top class Pete and if you want to throw some moves on the dance floor then instrumental is king. Now we are all older and if your at home in your easy chair in your music room, earphones on and a glass of bourbon in your hand wouldn't you sooner have your eardrums tickled by the magical vocals of Luther Ingram rather than some hairy arsed drummer
  9. Ram Ram here I am - Dont get any better than that. lol
  10. Dont know if this has been done before Got a free CD from Blackhearts soul night last Friday night and on it is cigarette ashes and i do think it is top notch but its absolutely smashed by That Beatin Rhythm and Theirs That Mountain. Also on it is Ann Robinson World of Happiness and I think this is so much better than Bird Walking. Got thinking about other instrumentals like Soul Steps The Dogs and again I prefer the vocal im So Sorry. Gave a lot of thought to it but couldn't find an instrumental that i preferred over the vocal Is it just me, am I just a sucker for all those silky - Heart throbbing - gritty - Tear jerking Vocals Are there any instrumentalist that outshine there vocal version Mick
  11. Deanna Barns, Tobi Legend and I forget the third, were played at his funeral. I had the honour of carrying the front of his coffin with Kev Thomas. So many turned out for him. Johns tribute was very moving and had its lighter moments. Andy lived for a laugh and was the most welcoming person you could ever wish to meet.
  12. Im sure hes got his big foot on a Cairos
  13. As I dont do Facebook and I know Andy got a mention today I thought I would give him a mention on here. Cant believe its 15 years since Andy's tragic accident on 07/08/1999. He was a very close friend for years, his passion for soul was huge and he loved DJing as much as currys. Andy had a motorcycle accident after DJing with his best mate John Poole at the Hollingwood hotel in Chesterfield for Rob Wiggley. Most of my vinyl collection came via Andy and John, two of the records I never got chance to thank him for or pay him (Velvet Hammer - Frankie & Johnny) If hey was around today to see how the scene has gone internet mad, world wide interest and a weekender every weekend he would be in his element. RIP Andy Lee
  14. If I had a fake account on SS I would put this up as a joke But I havent, so I wont Oh I have Daaammmmm
  15. Withdrawn Len Barry
  16. The Hesitations - Soul Superman Tempest - Would You Believe
  17. Richie Havens sounds like Rob Thomas (louth) singing so Spyder gets my vote all day long
  18. Started the addiction in 77 and although I love the music I fell out of love with DJing. I think I have done far more than I could of ever dreamed of. Two years ago I decided to sell and was unsure how I would cope so I let about 65% go. Some of them killed me but got over it and no regrets. May let the rest go next year Still attend soul nights and always will The Mrs is sick of me saying I used to have this. Being honest I thing coping with the separation of your vinyl depends on your personal life style, if you got other interests to throw your self at then its not to bad. If you haven't your doomed
  19. Yes they were defiantly boots for sale but the one Rob Smith was selling were 100% gen Also found out that he had A demo with some issues
  20. Anita Henson Mick ? Thats the one - How many do you want When Im in the states and every shop has a copy then I hate them But When I need a quick guide or some info then there ace Love em or hate em there here to stay and we all have one. Dont we
  21. Years ago I found a guy in the states selling a copy of Bit By Bit (cant remember the artist) it was in Manships book at £500 and he was asking $10. Didnt know the record but sounded like a good deal, I called him and he asked if i wanted a demo or issue as he had a load of them. So I had a few - as you would, turned out to be a miss print or incorrect price entry or something like that in the price guide. Aaagggghhhhh
  22. And now I find out there's two issues of the Salvadors The plot thickens
  23. I heard years ago that they started off as The Classics Anyone know if this is correct
