  3. Took Greg out for dinner about 13 years ago - Great bloke. At the time he had just got the only known copy of Two Plus Two
  4. The scene is/has changed, never mind the music policys at the indevidual venues. Thats somthing we slowly get used to. I have noticed the people attending is changing. Recently went to a soul night I regualy attend and know most regaulers but there not there and all new faces are all over the place. Recently went to a weekender and on the next breakfast table there were two couples who had left the line dancing scene and become souleys as it is such a welcoming scene and more enegetic dancing to help with the ageing waistlines. Where is it going - I dont know mmaaannnn
  5. I was told that Willpower Weak Temptation Strong by Bullet was actual David Cassidy. It sounds like him any one know.
  6. Hi - You still after OJs
  7. I once put some Mel Britt lyrics on that were wrong so I took extra care with this one as they are debatable, two other's agreed with my assumption but who knows. I think my version flows better - carries the story along. At least we agree on the little doggy bit
  8. Don't know if this has been done. John and the Weirdest. "Here I sit here in this lonesome room, With nothing but the smell of sweet perfume" "One silk stocking lying on the chair, A yellow ribbon that you wore in your hair" "The same old dish you used to do, Just lying on the table top for two, One single helping lying on the floor, A lonely little doggy crying at the door" Young Brothers "Put your hand in mine and come on"
  9. Sold my green one 2 years ago for £250 it was in the sales box for 5 weeks Big bump on outer edge plaid ace label slightly off-center MInt condition Why so many of such a rare record in mint or close - Puzzled

  11. Hey John, its exactly what the thread is about, Good stuff for those in the chairs and top 500 for the dance floor. Mick
  12. 13. Thats the one, I had the insight to bang it on CD. Love it to death
  14. I understand what your saying Len and I would sooner be in a rare room than the top 500 room personal. About 10 years ago I put a soul night on in Nottingham and Rob Thomas volunteered his services for the first night, as all DJs were booked I shared my spot with him. He played things like Marrying Kind, Hey You, Oh Baby, Whats Your Game etc etc. It was 100% brilliant. Unfortunately it emptied the floor and gave a feeling of no atmosphere. Time for safety and back to the oldies - Full floor Robs record selection was ace but not right for this night. So I see it as if your going to DJ at a venue where people are paying there hard earned cash and want to dance to top 500 then its your duty to do so even to the extent of playing a record you dont like yourself. Remember there the top 500 for a reason. Even though Robs session was awesome. You could blame me for being the promoter and putting Rob on - and I would say it was the first night and I had no Idea 250 would attend all wanting big oldies Mick
  15. Think Steve got the answer on No 4 of this thread.
  16. Back in the day 1977 Monday night was Natts Palais Tuesday - Night off Wednesday night Ingosoll Chesterfield Thursday night Italian club Nottm Friday night Colmans Nottm Saturday night Alnighted (anywhere) Sunday day alldayer or/and Colmans in the night This was a typical week, there were more venues back then and every night of the week offered a healthy choice of venues. Looks like Sundays are starting to get busy again buy imo the scene was bigger in the early days but there were no weekenders so that may adjust things a bit
  17. I know where your coming from and have thought similar things myself. Let's hope it dies down and returnes to normality like it did in the late 80s. The route course we all love the scene is the music of our soul heros and as long as we stick to that we won't go far wrong.
  18. In my opinion Notts has/is always been a huge supporter of the of the NS scene with top Djs and venues. We have more venues every week than I would care to mention, top promoters and paying punters. Some things are out of our hands.
  19. Record prices are weird, if your buying there's worth good money as everyone is after if but if your selling there s--t as they have had there day.
  20. Washed Ashore in my book is soul soul soul and nothing but soul but wtf do I know.
  21. I have lived in Notts since day 1 and I would like to say that I would like to be counted out of the clown show. Bol---ks Bol---ks Bol---ks
