  1. records are a huge part of the scene and cutting your teeth learning the names and artist then labels and the difference between bootlegs/pressing.how many of us have been sat for hours taking about this record or have you heard this other 90%of us. part and parcel of the scene the amount of time in record bars at allnighters chatting about how originally discovered it or played it first. for me it part of the scene and its history that we pass on to others and long may it continue
  2. Didn't Tim warehouse in get flood really badly I remember it was on the side of a river in Todmorden. Heard it suffered with the floods
  3. absolute quality. bang on best so far for me
  4. enjoyed it great work
  5. Awesome great song
  6. Awesome voice and her rendition of oh no not my baby was superb stands out for me. One in a million was another great tune by her the list could go on and on definitely worth Hall of fame status imho. One of my favourite female artists
  7. quick and to the point ady !!! quality lol
  8. yeh gonna be top dollar still a great tune
  9. manships got one for sale on auction site now
  10. not seen one for sale in a couple of years and was a really rare record. i remember it went for just over £2000 plus but in todays market would like to guess if thats any help?
  11. always one of my favourite tunes R.I.P thought and prayers go out to his family
  12. im not against oldies and have been to many an oldies event. Whether it be syder turner "cant make it any more" to this "shes want" its not about the price it whether i like the record. never been a trophy hunter when it comes to buying records but its whether i like the record and if i think its worth it as for larry clinton good record but would pay the money they for it when i could get 15/20 good records i like just as much and enjoy just as much if not more
  13. i would gladly pay a bit more on the door if the dance floor is full and keeps them dancing. That's what you pay your hard earned cash for to enjoy your night.with this you go home think you think what a great night and possibly arranging your dairy for the next event. you talk to other friends on the scene and say belting night at???? this brings more punters and the repeat punters. what im trying to put across is doesn't have to be a top name dj but someone who is a punter as well as a dj and understands what the people want and play for them and know when to slow the tempo and then pick it up again. As an old mate of mine says allnighters/soul nights are a journey and its down to quality djs to provide the trip
  14. cheers dave its stories/incites into people like yourself who where at the forefront post wigan that kept it going forward and introducing quality records us punters and to me like to know the back ground info about these record think old age is turning me into an anorak lol
  15. sorry dave i stand corrected was going off a conversation i was involved in but what a awesome tune. thats what i love about this site find out the history of such records. had butch or tim played at any venues before you dave or was you the 1st dj to play it? was a great time for undiscovered tunes, what others records were your discoveries at stafford dave?
  16. shaun gibbons got a copy same time as dave thornley off the same source anderson i think, so cant be sure which allnighter was 1st would same not much but think the cds credit it to stafford . big at both venues .
  17. i wonder what its like up on the moral high ground they sit upon looking down on us mere mortals. lol got to love the quirkiness of the soul scene.
  18. lol pete just couldn't see what my post had to do with his point.
  19. only said as a small time COLLECTOR i was interested in what price it was going to fetch. Same as look through other websites and on here to see whats certain records ive got that are mention and what value they are and if i want to see a few bit im bored with and get new stuff. Never once moaned about prices on manships site or idiots being ripped off on ebay at the end of the day its only worth what someones prepared to pay. sorry soul police for putting my opinion on a record forum
  20. my only interest is how much it will go for and always love to keep an eye on prices off records guess us less collectors are just anorak's
  21. the man had a awesome voice and a big part of or music "the only way is up" still love this today even after yazz version spoiled it. thought and prayers to his family at this sad time RIP
  22. quality tune. best tune they did in my honest opinion
  23. was that allnighter at a venue on cheetham hill? can remember a football match?sports hall type venue was a good times
  24. great and well written piece and of history your incite to post wigan. the weekender scene was big with the upnorth promotions by alex lowes if i remember from fleetwood, morecambe pontins and eventually southport and 21 years later still going strong but has gone more modern/dance after a few years had some great times there.
