  5. I would go back and get it Flynny , it will do until you get one with less of the Rolf Harris effect:) look at Brenda Jones and the twangy guitar ... we have all grown to accept the twangs now
  6. My copy is the one where the organ is pronounced and although at first the organ did make me grind my teeth . I have grown to love it for what it is , Nige passed it to me because he could not tolerate the organ I played it last year at Skeggy and it sounded pretty good loud , others liked it .
  7. I had the pleasure of going to a photgraphic exhibition last weekend in Lythem St Annes and it did cross my mind watching two elderly people in a room looking at pictures from their youth on a video screen , the smiles on thier faces showed much pleasure, obviously they could identify a memory with the images that had been selected for show. How lovely it would be to one day see a Soulphoto exhibition
  8. We popped in to KGH on saturday afternoon on the way back from the coast , caught a great photgraphic exhibition at Lythem St Anns had a bite to eat and arrived at Blackburn around 2pm to a very hot and sticky film set . Must say the atmosphere at floor leval was fantastic , spotted many talented dancers , possibly the best concentration of great dancers I have ever seen. It was a great experience. Also caught sight of many friends , too many to mention individually. Sorry I missed Sue Parker Brent looked awesome in his "Bouncers" suit and I was very impressed with the attention to detail down to loads of ashtrays full of fag ends. The heat on the set was unbareable , it was great to go upstairs and watch from above . Heard that the Dj decks are the original decks ! The guy (actor) playing the Dj was brilliant , remember that thing you used to do when you had long hair with a center parting, how you sort keep smoothing the sides down and pushing the hair curtains back , well he got that motion off to a T. and as for the guy that took the lead when the the three walk in .... Nige tells me it was an image of Nige Shaw ! His attitude and manner was identicle. I could be wrong .... this is a constructive comment ...maybe the balcony shot is a faded distance type of shot and scenes are incorporated within it ? BUT I will say I think they may need to re-think the filiming of balcony though to make it look more authentic they could have done with some young actors intermingled in the crowd above , I would guess at the time not everybody just stood there and stared at the floor as we were all doing :)I would imagine people did record deals from small boxes and mates hugged each other when spotted in the balcony area because they had been missed down below , people smoked and had a laugh upstairs too ? ..... not everyone was positioned to look eyes out front if you know what I mean ? I didn't go to Wigan Casino , so I could be right off the mark , perhaps someone could elaborate what went on upstairs ? I think 99% of us were shocked to hear we were within shooting range if thats the right terminology ? We found that we could not go to Blackburn and miss a revisit to that much loved club Tonys Empress , which is literally five minutes around the corner, can't express how it felt to be stood at that shutter and imagine climbing those steps behind it again , surprised to see the paving stone with Tonys on it , never noticed that before ? Sad to see its not in use by anyone anymore ?
  9. Did the same , great to see the place again
  10. I think Gordon Russell is a played out oldie , i am sick of hearing the same rubbish come out of his mouth....
  11. oh do I have to have just one ? Charades - Key to my happiness I love the way the intro builds my god it makes my heart race .... by the time they start singing I am on the floor and as hard as I try I can't stop myself singing to it with a big grin on my face , two thirds through and its that SPIN ...which I can't do oh how I love this sound Johnny Sayles - I can't get enough Christian Grey mooooooove over this is a MAyyyyyyyyn ! I'm his Dave I want to thank you cause I just had to play them and its got me in the mood for the weekend
  12. Can I just mention now that I have " lightened up" , that I have heard Richard play a couple of times in the afternoon at Blackpool when he is lets say in a more self indulgent mood and plays from his own "taste" rather than plays to please a crowd of 2000 , although the floor is thin the music he plays is pure underplayed bliss to hear he has proved to me and and I would guess many others that he has many strings ( genres , tempo's) to his style of play. Now would he fit in at one of your upfront nighters .... I don't know ? , but to sort of give the impression that he can only do "overplayed oldies' as someone did earlier in this discussion is absolute rubbish and shows that persons ignorance in the highest order.
  13. The post I am reacting to has vanished ... thank god he or someone saw sense ! God help us from those that think they know everything this is supposed to be YOUR personal opinion regardless of comments like the above so don't let anyone bully you into thinking your opinion doesn't matter because you have not notched up 53 nighters this year. The above poster has no right to start putting his own limitations on your POSTS ! Who would I like to see play at a nighter anyone that will take a risk with a tempo regardless of fame and size

  15. Anyone got one of these for sale please ?
  16. Oh Keith I am so sorry to read this , if it is Alzheimers thats causing her to be unwell as Jim has stated things are much improved and improving by the day to treat this illness by slowing its progress. I am sure many will help you through this difficult time Keith because you will need friends around you for sure.I know Nige had to cope with it when his Dad got it, it was difficult for him but he got through it with support from others and learning that he too needed to sometimes escape from it and let others help. xxx thinking of you both xx
  17. I don't see any problem with where the club is situated Sheila , i have seen ten times more dodgy areas .. I will just say you had to be there when we had our Casablanca moment out East lol a few years back I hope you keep with it , maybe open up the play to be anything and everything soulful might be an idea ? its a fab club , one of the best i have seen in Manchester to be honest , perhaps inviting more Manchester jocks to play might also help? You know we will always attend if not committed elsewhere its great to have a do five minutes away It reminded me of grumpy souls venue very much .
  18. I think the best photos are the one's people don't know you are taking , to capture a natural emotion is one of the best images you can capture . Also I find if the person you are taking the picture of knows you and they trust you it helps , you can see it in the way they look at the camera . Most the pictures I take are posed for , the best ones that I have produced are the instances where they have not been aware of it , and those I can count on one hand
