  1. From the album: 2012 - CARMS SOULING

Last time I saw these boys we were dancing on a slope of a dancefloor on Tower bridge
  2. I will just say regardless of past opinions I would trust Adys judgement in booking Mr Levine , its going to be entertaining for sure. I do feel sorry for him because many of you have such high expectations from the guy he is really going to have to pull one almighty rabbit , good luck to him for having the balls to face the wolves. If there is one thing I admire about him its his bravery to keep entering what can be a bit of a snake pit at times. It's a human jungle don't you think ?... I always punt for the under dog
  3. Goodness me , this is a difficult question , we tie ourselves up so many times trying to catagorise soul it gets very confusing , for me its better to describe what it isn't and I could be wrong because my opinion is not gospel , its just my take on it . Its not northern , its not fast , its not girly like the saphires for example , its not modern , its not detroit sounding . I think it can lean to southern sounding ,its mellow and its fresh , not the norm its anything that is unusual "out of the box" . I have found Nev a good source of education in the CD's he did for me. My fave sounds are Top tune for me is Daniel Madison - It don't matter baby Rare Gems Odessy - It don't take much , absulute maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaajic , and cheap Clay Brown .......anything by him Clinton Parks - Masterplan Irene Scott - Everyday worries Cornell Guntor - In my heart
  4. Can't make Feb , but will try very hard to make May , it will be so nice to see the City in the summer
  5. Glad you enjoyed it Phil , it was a lovely surprise to see you at York. Jay was telling me he was outside when he heard it and he had to come up to find out what it was. A fantastic sound that is so cheap and sounds like it costs a packet. Like I said to Jay you can't go wrong with anything that the Esquires have done, thats if you like group harmonies. I love their "You got the power" too. I can't wait for my return visit to York , I loved playing there. I just hope next time I get to play more records , there was many more needing play that don't normally see the decks other than my own ones at home. Its the same for Nige. I really like the concept/vision at York , I do hope it is sucessful for all those involved in promoting those sounds and collectors that don't normally have a chance to play for whatever reasons. I myself wouldn't like to play too often to the mass public, believe me they are very demanding I prefer to select what best suits me and to do something like this now and then that gives me great personal pleasure. Its nice to see a variety of players too we can sometimes assume that only certain people can offer you something different and exciting, because they are established names and have expensive collections . I know of many that would shine at this event just using their own style of selection. This invitation for me was a gift from the gods
  6. Wow what a great read Spike ! thanks for this
  7. That told them , what a superb post we need to be hearing more from you Mrs M reading between those lines you could tell someone a thing or two about being a collector and have a great perspective of things in general. i don't agree with the lesser bit though , especially after the christmas fat cell reunion lol
  8. We recentely found Brazenose street whilst Christmas market shopping much to our delight by accident . Now this famous street was the original home of the Twisted Wheel. Is there anyone out there that can tell me exactly where it was on the street , a shop or landmark would be great. The Wheel in its original home played blues and soul , also I think there was a place called the bluenote which I am interested in locating if anyone can help. Any memories of this time would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
  9. Sheridens , my goodness that brings back some great memories ....tyre man ! Being picked up outside the Albert Hall ( what colour is your Albert ?) and then driven up to Sheridens for a nighter disposing of a few tyres on route ..we used to travel distances with no thought in those days. Nice Bacon butties too !
  10. At the moment I am listening to my Unknown tracks playlist on my ipod , these are tracks I have listed that have not been identified coupled with sushi , perfect !
  11. My fault ... I used to work for the Press you know:) I can't believe we are still debating this lol
  12. Does anyone have a sound bite of the Teri North single ? I would put money on it this lady is also Teri Mathews Keith masterminded recording sessions for 100's of 45's and dozens of albums working with female singers teri Thornton Charlotte O'Hara and Nita Garfield ( who used 2nomes de disque" Teru Summers , Bonnie Graham and Nita Craig ) Thornton a promissing jazz vocolist in the late 50's and early 60's had fallen on hard times , while the latter were two ambitious singers and song writers who'd had material recorded inthe C&W and the R&B markets. Teri Thorton appeared in detroit clubs in the 50's she moved to New York city in the 1960's where she found work singing for TV ads and recorded for several different labels. Late inthe 1960's Thornton faded from public view and only decades later was discovered to have been singing on various song poem records in LA on the preview label as Teri Summers
