  1. Got the UK 78 on Vogue - well neat! Didn't come out here on a 45 (too early), other than on a Vogue EP called "Rhythm & Blues"; 2 tracks by The Dominoes and 2 tracks by The Swallows. You'll probably get £50 change out of £400 if you wanted one!
  2. Sorry quinvy but, in the nicest possible sense, you're on your own on this one! But then again, one man's shite is another man's gold!
  3. Afraid so quinvy! "Look Around" is a cracking piece of soul......shame about the price tag
  4. I used to remember my old friend Pete Myles from Aldershot. As well as driving me to venues and back, I'll never forget the odd Saturday evening during the early to mid-80s, where he'd phone me and if I wasn't doing anything, told me to wait there, have a blank C-90 tape ready, as he was coming down with his box with his latest acquisitions. He would put together a tape for me from his box, while we sat there and listened to them over coffee, cigarettes and socialising with my mum, who always got on well with my friends! He was also the person who persuaded me to sell all my pressings and start collecting originals! Sound advice at the age of 20! Wonder what Pete's doing now? I do miss him, as he was one of these rare characters who would do anything for anyone, and everyone loved him - if you're out there Pete, drop us a line!
  5. To the best of my knowledge: 1. Dark blue issue; thin vinyl and small run-in area. 2. White demo. A tiny handful ended up on multi-coloured vinyl. Same vinyl appearance as in (1). 3. Sky-blue label with completely different typeface.
  6. Looks like the real deal to me Pete! Is the label on your copy really as light as that? The originals actually have dark navy blue labels. Hope this doesn't confuse you further!
  7. Tried scanning the matrices, but they're too faint to show up on my scanner. Hope the above is of help tho mate - drop us a line if you need further clarification.
  8. Hi Pete and Dave, Sorry you can't get hold of me at work Dave - off sick with a head cold at the mo, so am at home! Anyway Councillor Smith, here are the details of the Eddie Foster matrix: SIDE A: (scratched in) "I NEVER KNEW" IN - 6311 (title positioned at 4 o'clock on circumference and number at 2 o'clock) SIDE B: (scratched in) "I WILL WAIT" IN - 6311 (title positioned at 1 o'clock on circumference and number at 11 o'clock) No reference is made to A or B side. The IN-6311 on both sides is quite faint, in comparison to the title scratched in the run-out. The vinyl is heavy, with a square edge - not the thin edge familiar with the boots. It also has a distinctly broader run-in, compared to the boots. Hope this helps Pete! I'll try and scan the matrices and post them up here in a few mins. All the best, Gene
  9. Which is why I prefer to auction on Ebay Baz! Bloody freeloaders!
  10. Check my Foundations auction, due to end on Saturday 5th August! https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/THE-FOUNDATIONS-Chan...1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. Trouble is, you can't knock him - after all, he has been honest and upfront about what they really are (not that I condone it).
  12. As a point of trivia, the instrumental of "Is It AllGone" was booted on the flip of the "Strings A Go Go" press on Soul Galore, as "Love Symphony" by the Bob Wilson Sounds
  13. Wasn't "Crazy" by Sheri Gibbs on TNT also a 70s concoction?
  14. The Hit label was a bit like what Embassy was in the UK; adequate cover versions of current hit records, but available at a cheaper price so the average teenager could happily afford them. Quite a few soul-type covers came out on Hit. There's also: Val Palmer - Back In My Arms Again The Dacrons - Don't Hang Up Alpha Zoe - Keep Your Hands Off My Baby Clara & The Cleftones - Our Day Will Come Thomas Henry - So Much In Love Sammy Fox - The Monkey Time Gerry & The Georgettes - Quicksand Thomas Henry - Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um The Roamers - Just Like Romeo and Juliet Flower Sisters - Chapel Of Love Mary Sue & The Trams - Dancing In The Street Leroy Jones - Some Day (cover of Thomas Henry. In fact, given the Hit/Spar relationship, I would swear that the Leroy Jones version is, in fact, the Thomas Henry cut under a different artist name. I played them alongside each other and couldn't tell the difference). Wonder if Herbert Hunter recorded anything for Hit?
  15. I don't think it's anything to do with it being a demo. More likely to be the "Kellie Osborne" filter, or someting like that. Why not try advertising it again, but don't inlcude ANY reference to Kell osborne in the subject heading, maybe something like "Quicksand" on Titanic. It should still attract attention from those of us in the know.
  16. No - I think J. Frank Wilson is actually white, Dante.
  17. Didn't actually make the UK charts, but did get a release here on Fontana in 1964. Never actualy heard of it on US Tamara. Must be a first issue, as it was also released on Josie.
  18. I remember when my brother bought it around 1968. I used to have so much fun shaking the cover from side to side, just to see the blue lettering in "Chartbusters" quiver!
  19. British Motown Chartbusters, Vol.3 - the one with the silver cover. Reminds me of when I first saw it as a kid in 1969, and marvelled at the "space-age" design of its time........
  20. Yeh, I'm disappointed too Ian. Disappointed that they didn't use any of ours!
  21. Wouldn't be the first time it's gone for quad figures. Think it sold for nearly £1,200 a couple of years ago.
  22. Sounds like it's a South African or Rhodesian pressing Gash. From what I can remember, South Africa used the FM prefix for their Decca records.
  23. Yes, there are three different issues. The demos you've shown here, Matt, are for both Monument issues, one of which had "fat" titling, and the other which used smaller lettering. It was never booted on Showcase. Hope that helps.
  24. There are two releases of this. There's the Monument distrbuted release, with a red label, and there's also a green label issue (which Paul's demo is for). The green label issue, and their demos as featured in the picture, should be delta stamped 46646, indicating an April 1963 release. I think both white label demos should easily go for around £75 Mint.
  25. It's also been said that both Del Shannon's wife, Shirley Westover, and Max Crook's wife, Joann, (plus one other literally dragged off the street for the session) provide the background claps in "The Snake". The four tracks (Runaway/Jody by Del Shannon, and The Snake/Wanderer by Maximilian) were recorded at the same session in January 1961, at Bell Sound Studios. Take a look at this: https://go.zibycom.com/members/002222119/Site4/maxcrook.html - Max Crook's personal website!
