.....and not ONE person has even mentioned "Like The Lord Said" by Rod Keith!
-
Yep - we're back with Solid Hit Soul on the 15th December - looking forward to it already! Paul - I remember joining you and Spena behind the decks during the early '90s! You should check Jon Buck's photo album on Soul Source, as he has quite a few pics from there (don't forget to ask his permission first tho!). Gene

Anyone seen this yet? Some really interesting label scans and playlists etc..... https://www.twistedwheel.net/ There's also a full-page feature in the Manchester Evening News, Friday 27 Oct (Page 9), and an interview with Peter Roberts. Gene

Hi Doc, Price - about £250 - £300. Availability? Well, the job lot that arrived in the UK during the mid-80s soon disappeared, and has now made it a record that doesn't crop up at all often. Brilliant side IMO. Good luck with your search. Gene

Have to confess that mine is "One Picture's Worth A Thousand Words" by the Four Vandals.
-
Updated this morning - some prices reduced!

Cheers Wilxy - just replied back!
-
I think "Take Me With You Baby" gets listed for around £75. "Think" on King is a much earlier track (1957), and has long been a biggie on the rockin'/jive scene. Not sure of price, but I would safely guess around the £25 - £30 mark.

Hi Tone, I can PM you a sound clip later this evening, once I've got home from work, if that's OK. Gene

Dom and I branched off to run Woolwich Poly Fri and Sun nites in 1984. Do you still hear from him? Send him my best if so .................ta!

I was one of Andy's working DJs during 1983, along with Mike Hedley and Lee Madden. His events were predominantly aimed at the under-18s, but it was fun playing the big Northern sounds of the time, with the kids looking rather bemused! Next week, hoards of them would turn up in army greens, boxer boots and dance to "Psychotic Reaction" by Count Five! My main residency under Andy was the Saturday afternoon sessions at the WAG club (ex-Whisky A Go Go) in Soho, keeping the under-agers out of trouble, away from the peep shows and red-light areas! Andy was a good bloke to chat to, and his wife was an extremely charming lady. Mike now lives in Heathrow and still gets along to the soul clubs. Wonder what Mr and Mrs Moore (Ruw) and Lee are doing now? Aah, memories.....................

Cheers for the heads-up Steve mate! Just PM'd you back.........

'kingell! I wouldn't have valued this anything more than £30!
-
If it helps, mine was pressed at RCA's pressing plant and has the number to go with it. Not sure if they were all though - I remember Nick Brown's copy which had the variation I detailed in my previous post, but can't remember to the life of me if it was an RCA press.
-
Hi Ged, Not seen that variation before! I've seen another variation where the credits read: The Group Called "US" Which actually makes three different variations. I'd be interested to know too! Gene

THE MARKETTS: Stirrin' Up Some Soul (SWEDISH Warner Bros) EX++ £15 Swedish issue from 1972 with a wrapover art sleeve
-
About £30 for the US copy, and double that for UK Vocalion.
-
Tried that - only, why does the B-side play "Ma He's Making Eyes At Me" backwards?
-
Great track Nev. Not sure if it got a re-issue, but "Half A Love" is IMO the best side. Dating from 1961, it's one of his earliest Vee-Jay efforts. I think a fair price on a Vee Jay original has to be around £25 these days.
-
That wouldn't be sufficient punishment Paul - Vimto gets sold in plastic bottles these days........ Hey - has anyone noticed that Vimto is an anagram of Vomit? And SU DO KU is an anagram of U DO SUK? BTW, please don't ask about the rude anagrams you can get from Exus Trek!
-
NO WAY! £300 for either issue is reasonable these days.
