  1. Hi Jo, I don't have it on CD I'm afraid - my vinyl copy of the 45 went to Melvin a few years ago, and still regret it! I'll do a search round, and let you know if I have any luck. Gene
  2. Take it you mean singing Kirsty?
  3. One to avoid at all costs: Santa Claus Please Listen To Me - Artie Fullove
  4. Easy way around that - do what I do. Don't let ANYONE freeload you for sounds. Keep 'em to yourself! Too many peeps around who are quite happy to take, but give nothing in return.................
  5. I'll try to put one up when I get home from work Simon. Gene
  6. Thanks for the plug Simon - I owe you one!
  7. Thanks for a job well done Shane! Best of luck in all that you do - let us all know how you get on. Gene

THE GROUP CALLED "US": Promise Me (Patty) EX+ £25 Blue-eyed moody mid-tempo. THE DYNAMICS: Old Shoes And Rice (SAA-CE) VG+ £100 This has a very, very tiny 1mm chip on the edge, nowhere near the playing surface. Not even worth mentioning....just that I'm honest. Also a small scratch which can be heard for about 8 revs after the second verse. JEFF LANE: You Put A Hurt On Me (United International) EX £40 Good early-sounding dancer, seen selling for £75 RONNIE HAWKINS: Southern Love (Whatcha Gonna Do) (UK Columbia) MINT- £30 Blue-eyed R&B which has been creating a stir amongst R&B lovers over the past couple of years. THE MARKETTS: Stirrin' Up Some Soul (SWEDISH Warner Bros) EX++ £15 Swedish issue from 1972 with a wrapover art sleeve
  9. Have to say that for 1965, it sounds well ahead of its time!
  10. All good records, but I only play them at weddings or general '60s nites.
  11. Mikey - you should flip it over and play the better side "Which One Should I Choose"!
  12. Well Stuart, I hope whoever was responsible for the small stool eventually cleaned it up, and vowed to keep his dog under control! I don't really think it's appropriate to question ones sexuality on the soul scene, let alone in general. We are now in the millenium, and with the fact that homosexuality/bisexuality has been brought out in the open and, therefore, more widely accepted, I believe that every music scene has a gay element, same as it does a mixed race element. After all, isn't the soul scene all about the music? Should diversity be brought into it? Yours, Gene (straight, married, and doesn't give a monkeys!)
  13. Much better then their one-hit wonder "The Crunch" on Good Earth!
  14. Ken, the few Purdah releases that came out in the mid-60s were all limited to 99 copies - something about purchase tax avoidance I think.
  15. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Animal........................ ..oops - sorry Toby mate! Didn't mean to hijack your post. Good luck with the sales - hope to see you soon.
  16. Have no info on Bobby Kline, but I think you'll find "Say Something Nice To Me" is more likely to be from 1969 rather than 1972. What I can say is that the single was released on the MB label, and has "Takin' Care of Business", a nice uptempo cut, on the flip side.
  17. My faves on the LP are "I Cried For You" and "Ain't That Enough". However, I don't think these guys could have made a duff track if they ever tried!
  18. Sounds like that low life super_shipper, who also sent me an empty package - note that this guy has scammed someone else using the same tactic. Incidentally, to update you on the super-shipper saga, it's now in the hands of the Financial Ombudsman for the UK (who have received a formal complaint from me about PayPal, but that's another story) and the Indiana State Police. More later.......................
  19. Sure do Pete............... "Suck a cola just for fun, Fizzy Cola on your tongue, Suck a Spangle get happy"!
  20. I can only spot one error in that................wasn't it actually called "Hotter Than Fire"?
  21. Speaking of track listing errors, Psychedelic Soul by Saxie Russell sounds bloody ahead of its time for 1956, doesn't it!
  22. Well, isn't Tank De Lard the French saying for Vat of Fat? Seriously, there was also a similar misprint of "She Pon Top" by Prince Buster which, when released by Blue Beat in the UK, became "Sheep On Top".
  23. I can remember Pete Myles' copy of a well-known Falcons single, where the bottom of the label folded over itself, resulting in the title "Good God Feeling"! Should that have qualified for the gospel soul thread?
  24. Further reductions.................last chance to buy before they go on Ebay!
