  1. I think "Sweatin'" will probably be Secret Stash's best selling 45 to date!
  2. Dream Team on Gregory Clara Hardy on Tuna Four Tracks on Mandingo
  3. Wasn't the first release on the label by female vocal group The Supremacists?
  4. Excellent doo-wopper indeed Dave! It's actualy an alternate take by The Kaptions, who had already released another take of this as a single on the Ham-Mil label in 1964. This dates from 1973. The name 'The Five Shits' is apparently the brainchild of Val Shivley.
  5. There's a 50s US label called "Fellatio", but can't find any scans of the label.
  6. Jesus Christ! Rosco Gordon on Stateside for £68! What price would the original on Top Rank go for then, given that this is a 1963 "reissue"?
  7. THE FOLLOWING RECORDS ARE £5 EACH, OR ANY 5 FOR £20 US ORIGINALS THE DEBANAIRS: Feel All Right (W-BS) EX- / VG+ (small crack which is repaired on the B-side edge, so both sides are playable. Plays fine). No centre. Plays fine) JULIE ROGERS: Without Your Love (Mercury) EX ("Sample Record" sticker on A-side label) BILLY STEWART: Summertime (Chess - black/gold label) VG+ (some surface marks not affecting play). THE SUPREMES: Nothing But Heartaches (Tamla Motown) EX (no centre) THE SUPREMES: He's My Man (Tamla Motown) MINT- BARRY YOUNG: Show Me The Way (Dot) MINT- (2" spindle mark on the B-side label). 8. VINCE EDWARDS: I Can't Turn Back Time / The Lively One (UK United Artists) MINT- £12. THE VELVELETTES: These Things Will Keep Me Loving You (US Soul) EX (drill hole) £8. (NOTE: There is a very tiny fragment missing on the edge which does not touch the grooves and, therefore, does not affect playing. I don't think it's a chip - looks more likely to be a pressing fault). P&P UK: £1.30 (registered £2.30) EUROPE: £3.80 (registered £8.80) OUTSIDE EUROPE: £5.00 (registered £10.00) Payment by normal PayPal (I will pay the fees). Please PM me if interested. Thanks! Gene
  9. Ady, you could have asked Stuart Tyler - he used to play it at Solid Hit Soul when I was part of it, and may still have it.
  10. Yes. Does sound a bit like Doris Day.............but I really like it! I have no idea who or what it is though. Probably the new "Eydie Gorme and the Flatulent Five" cover-up?
  11. Can't help thinking that it looks like an issue from the West Indies, somehow. The typeface used on the titling just doesn't fit in with the typeface which ABC typically used.
  12. Would personally have though double to be honest, Tony. Sold mine 6 years ago for £180, but it had a cue-burn at the start.
  13. THE EXCITERS: Tell Him / Hard Way To Go (UK United Artists DEMO) EX- / VG++ (writing and rubber stamp on label. A few small marks IN the run-out grooves at 10 to 12 o clock which do not affect playing - see pics) £25 or best offer. NOW SOLD - THANKS! Payment by PayPal only, please (I will pay the fees). Please PM if interested. Thanks, Gene
  14. Have to admit that when I first heard it, I thought they were singing "It's all about boxing in the seventh round"!
  15. But then again, what are the chances of finding another unplayed copy of this?
  16. Hey Gary, All is well here thanks! You didn't know I had this? I could have sworn you were with Matt Simpson and myself at a pub in Kings Cross around 1986, when Matt was going through my records and asked me how much I paid for it! Maybe not? Good to hear from you, and glad to see you're still around. All the best, Gene
  17. Hi, Up for sale are the following UK items: VINCE EDWARDS: I Can't Turn Back Time / The Lively One (United Artists) MINT-. £20 Lovely double-sider in near-perfect shape! FONTELLA BASS: I Can't Rest / I Surrender (Chess) EX- / VG+. £10 Small mark on start of Side 2 gives a tic for the first 4 revs of the B-side intro, otherwise plays EX. Again, an excellent double-sider. Or the pair for £25 plus P&P. P&P UK: £1.30 (registered £2.30) EUROPE: £3.80 (registered £8.80) OUTSIDE EUROPE: £5.00 (registered £10.00) Payment by PayPal only, please (I will pay the fees). Please PM me if interested. Thanks, Gene
  18. You're right Harry - I auctioned my copy in 2009 when I sold up. From memory, I think it went for about £380. It was the issue I had in my collection since 1985 - at the time, I bought it from Rampart collector Graham Anthony of Chaddesden for £35. This was at a time when both the Linda issue and demo sold for about £30. Even with selling up, I was still kinda reluctant to part with this, but at the time, "needs must" as they say!
  19. Thanks Chris!
  20. Anyone know what the current value is on a demo (red label) of "Just Ask Me" by Lenis Guess on Legrand (2001)? It's the 70s version with "Some Woman's Bedroom" on the flip side. Thanks.
  21. It's a white label test pressing for Soul Supply EP SS 105, and the tracks are: THE GROUP FEATURING CECIL WASHINGTON: I Don't Like To Lose (Prophonics) THE ELLUSIONS: You Didn't Have To Leave (Lamon) THE NOMADS: Something's Bad (Mo-Groov) THE TOPICS: Hey Girl (Where Are You Going) (Chadwick)
  22. What sort of reaction did "The Light Of Day" get when you played it, Martyn?
  23. That's surely a Soul Sounds boot - not Prophonics? Sound quality, like the Vickie Baines on the same label, is diabolical. I've seen recent one-sided boots on Prophonics (other side is just blank). They still pop up on Ebay. Pity it's one-sided - I love "The Light Of Day" just as much as "I Don't Like To Lose", and would be happy to have one as a listening copy at home if it played both sides.
  24. London put out at least two of these tri-centre reissues around 1978/79. The other one was a Charlie Gracie 45 which originally came out on UK Parlophone - not London!
