  1. Hi Dave, I think that may be the "twin shields" boot - now you mention it, I do remember it being a nicotine brown label! Incidentally, the boots of "(Whoa Whoa) I Love Him So" by Nikki Blu on Parkway had a bright yellow label and, yes, the quality was a bit wishy-washy - must have been done in the same batch. Gene
  2. There are two boots of My Heart Your Heart: 1. White label Parkway, but no reference to demo. Vinyl thin and tapers at the edge. Print quite faint. 2. West Coast demo, with the twin shields design. Pressed on styrene, which I think has a 100,.... type delta matrix.
  3. No probs mate. Actually, it's more likely that "The Tingle" would have also come out on a dark blue label with CHESS printed down the left side (rather than a black label), given that sources point to it being a '61 release.
  4. Good point Simon - wonder if there was a similar 'demo only' release of it?
  5. I see what you mean. The 'checkered' pattern you refer to in your last post would probably be the imprint of another label, caused by being stacked on top of, or near it. Reminds me of the single-sided demo of "Laws Of Love" by The Volcanos I had on Arctic. The flip-side, which looked like a sander was taken to it, had a mirror image of a label for "Queen Of Hearts" by Bobby Skel on the Soft label! Tony Smith may be able to correct me on this one, but I recall that in the mid-80s, he had a single-sided demo of "Nothing Like A Mother" by Jimmy Soul Clark on Teek. If I remember rightly, the B-side label was a faint mirror image of "Get Rid Of Him" by Dionne Warwick on Scepter. I think the vinyl was deliberately scratched as well so that it couldn't be played. The plot thickens.....................
  6. In the case of pre-1961 UK demos from the Decca group (RCA, London, Felsted etc), both the A and B sides were pressed on single-sided demos. This allowed a radio DJ to play the A-side, immediately followed by the B-side (for example, "Money" and "Oh I Apologise" by Barrett Strong would have been issued as separate single-sided London demos - anyone seen one?). I wonder if this was the same strategy in the USA with their single-sided demos?
  7. No - they were genuine West Coast issues which coincided with the Chicago releases. Most, if not all, have correct Delta matrices defining month/year of release. Some Northern 45s were pressed in both formats, including 'The Tingle' by Jackie Weaver (believed to be 1961) and 'A Whole New Plan' by Jo Ann Garrett (1966). Never seen a Valentinos on a West Coast issue.............now that would be rather nice to look at.
  8. West coast I believe, and ran between 1961 - 1966. Other designs: c.1951 - 1958 - dark blue label with CHESS (and chess piece) logo on top. 1958 - c.1962 - dark blue label with CHESS printed vertically down the side. c.1963 - 1966 - black label with coloured CHESS logo (and chess piece) on top. 1966 - mid-70s - sky blue blending to white, with CHESS in red lettering at top. Hope this helps.
  9. Cheers Bearsy - can you ensure the paint's dried before putting it back in the sleeve?
  10. Hmm, pretty sad news that. For her own sake, he (as a friend) should try and stop her doing this - what happens if a couple of jokers put 5-figure bids on one of her auctions, just for the spiteful fun of it, not realising the true story behind it all?
  11. Yep - neither of the 2 copies are mint - Tim's has a profound edge warp and Kenny's has WOL. Finding a mint one? More chance finding a gold disc of "Cheatin' Kind"................
  12. ..........and also have the trademark bevelled edge.
  13. Must just be my nervous twitch then Pete...........
  14. Have to say I've never done (record) business in a public toilet before.............intriguing!
  15. Cheers.......
  16. Sorry - posted same post twice!
  17. Thanks for the help Paul and Dan I've mailed him back and asked him to stick to the terms and conditions of my ad, but I'll certainly keep this in mind as a possible option for future auctions.
  18. Thanks Ged - some very good bits of advice there. I'd never thought about asking him for his details, so that's something I'll likely take up with him. Will keep you all posted.
  19. A bidder has just won an auction of mine. After sending him the invoice, I receive the following message from him via Ebay: hi, can you send me your iban and bic code for transfering the money to your bankaccount i dont have pay pal best regards. In short (and possibly broken English), he appears to be asking for my bank account details. Firstly, he should have read my terms & conditions and stuck by accepted payment methods, though in this case that is the least important thing. I sent a mesasge of concern to Ebay, who advised lifting his contact details and phoning him (which I shall do tonight, providing he hasn't left a false number). The member in question is jose50000_1. Has anyone else had any dealings with him? As you can imagine, my first impression of the mail was that it smacked of bank account fraud. Oh - almost forgot to state where he was from................Belgium. Gene
  20. That's right Pete - was on French Columbia wasn't it? Also had the same pic sleeve as for the "Lovers Concerto" LP.
  21. There's also a very poor quality white label bootleg which lacks all bass. Comes from the same batch as the Case of Tyme and Lou Pride white label bootlegs, all pressed with crap sound quality.

Sorry - above message posted twice!
  23. These prices are a bit "cloud cuckoo" aren't they? How 'karrong' can you get!
  24. I'd say it was a bargain! I got £128 for my warped copy last summer on Ebay!
  25. I have the 7" pic disc which I'l out for £8 if keen..............
