  1. Labels with a 'gloss' type finish can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth, applied lightly. Matt, paper-type labels should be left as they are, as rubbing with a damp cloth will take areas of the label away.
  2. Disappointing. Ever since I was told to beward of soul records from Columbia, I've had to get rid of Lee David, Dana Valery, George Carrow, not to mention all my Spellbinders records.......................
  3. Where exactly? Couldn't find it.........either that, or I'll have to shave this tache off!
  4. Just had the following response back: Hi...yes an blue lable copy and other copy (demo). Two different discs: demo copy is controversial. The If I had title is right sincethe pic do not lies. Thanks Sorry, but I'm afraid the pics DO lie in this case! UPDATE: The listing has been ended early, because the item is 'no longer for sale'! He's obviously realised that there's more than just Dave-G on the case!
  5. In general, I would have thought the likes of "My Way" and "Unchained Melody" would have been the most covered singles worldwide.
  6. Well said Lenny - maybe we can push Gene Toones down to the second most expensive Northern Soul record to sell on Ebay!
  7. Hopefully my question to him will completely screw him. Just posted the following question to him via Ebay: "Two questions. 1) Why do you have a demo AND issue label for the "Huh Baby" side? 2) You got the titling wrong for the B-side! Remember that it's not just "If I Had"....but he forgot the (One Gold Piece) in his scam..er, I mean scan!
  8. You are Joe King, of course!
  9. A safe guess at £150 these days.
  10. Sounds like that one would be "Sam Fletcher Sings". Has the pic of him in a white shirt and heavy gold ring, if I'm not mistaken. What an excellent pic of the man!
  11. Yes - it's a raised 'X' in the run-out. Pressed on styrene, and should have a very broad run-in space.
  12. Deep Inside Of You by the Harden Brothers (phnarr, phnarr!). What the connection between Nappy Brown and Willie Small? Both have first name and surnames they never wanted to reverse the order of.
  13. Sounds like he's living in denial, or just completely lost the plot!
  14. You could complain to him and try to get refunded (as an 'item not as described'). If not, hope you give him the negative feedback he deserves Russ! Gene
  15. This has an excellent B-side, "Tomorrow" - highly recommended double-sider, and £6 well spent IMO!
  16. This is really sad news. I remember Sylvia as a friendly, vivacious person who always had a smile. Our thoughts are with you and the family at this time, Ady. Sincere condolences. Gene and Elaine
  17. Was a £20 record not that long ago Russ!
  18. Must be worth something, considering the issues are fetching around £20 - £25 these days! Funny thing is, I'm sure "How Come There's No Dog Day" was originally the official A-side.
  19. Sorry to tell you Tone, but this starts off with "Daddy came home from work tired, His boss had been driving him mad"! Offers on a Mint UK Palette original in sleeve??????
  20. Seen it anywhere between £300 and £500 on Bronze.
  21. Was it subtitled "A-Uno, Dos, Uno Dos Tres Quatro" then? I do love that count in - and I'm sure it's been sampled many a time over the past decade on other things!
  22. And here's some of my opening line faves: GOSPEL CLASSICS: More Love, That's What We Need CLIFF NOBLES: My Love Is Getting Stronger VINCE APOLLO: I Bear Witness DARRELL BANKS: Our Love Is In The Pocket FRANK LYNDON: Don't Go Away Baby
  23. Cheers mate - hear from you soon.
  24. May take you up on that if you don't mind - I'll play you the one I've got on tape in return (when I can find it). I always maintained that if it was a cleaner cut, then I would be more than happy to have one myself. Truth be told, it's still a good record!
  25. There must be - the one I heard in 1991 starts off with four solitary drum beats, and then goes into the "There's a girl I really want to meet". That was also on Ultra Class (yellow label). Would be keen to know if there is another version of it. The one I've heard is a really messy production. I remember it for the line which sounds like "She's not skinny, she's not fat, she shaved my p***s, and I like that"! I've been advised he actually says "She's shaped like Venus", but I beg to differ!
