  1. Very sad news indeed. RIP Eddie...............
  2. I've broken at least 200 soul records over the past 10 years.........mind you, that was when my box fell down the stairs!
  3. You've been watching too many TV ads for Charmain bog roll Stu!
  4. The Arthur Willis is worth every penny of the £5K it supposedely went for - chuffin' brilliant track! Only know of about 3 copies of it.
  5. I've got this on How Big - is it a boot?
  6. ...and if she accepted payment in kind!
  7. Yes - it was a huge spin for Dick Coombes around 1981 - 1983. He sold me my copy for £4!
  8. Excellent record all the same, but on a label like Tuna you'd always expect there to be something fishy about it! Was it first spun by John West(on)? - John, with your good sense of humour I know you wouldn't mind me saying that!
  9. Had one of these on Commonwealth in the early '80s and, I do have to say, I actually regret trading it! It was only in my hands for a few months before I swapped it for an original Bob Relf on Trans-American. As John said, it's sung with attitude - and definitely in retalliation to the Stones' original (just listen to the way she stresses "HE'S under my thumb"!). Must admit, I had often wondered whether it was a tailor-made or genuine '60s cover version.
  10. BUM-p! List updated to reflect sold items - all others still available.
  11. Well said - couldn't agree more!

  17. There's also a version of it by The Merseybeats on the B-side of their first UK chart 45, "It's Love That Really Counts" (cover of the Shirelles).
  18. Aww.....why?????
  19. Just found this on Popsike - was this the other one with the same backing track? https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?...nr=250040009696
  20. Thanks for the PM Helena - very interesting reading! I think Liza Mae is actually singing about her boyfriend who's a bit of a loudmouth ("juicy mouth" probably being a slang term as such), as she complains about him shooting his mouth off - but she still loves him none the less! Pretty sure that's what it is - I just played it again, and even my broad-minded fertile imagination couldn't decipher any innuendo! And thanks, also, to everyone else for filling me in on this and Michael Christian! Gene
  21. For those of you who don't recognise this record by the title, it's the one Gary Spencer covered up in the late '80s (can't remember who as), and has the same backing track as "7 Days 52 Weeks" by Cody Michaels. Does anyone know anything about the value and background of this record? I've just received a lovely copy of it from a guy who found 10 mis-labelled copies and one perfectly labelled copy. It's on the Concept label. Some of the mis-labelled copies have either this side labels on both sides, or the other side, "The Watergate Jazz", on both sides. Thankfully, I'm lucky enough to have the mis-label with "Juicy Mouth" printed on both sides. My guess is that the Watergate Jazz is a spoof, or play on words, after the Watergate Scandal which caused Nixon to resign, which would date the record between 1972 or 1974. Anyone know any more about this? Also, does anyone know if the majority of copies in the UK are perfect, or mislabelled? Most importantly, anyone know of a value? (not that I would sell it, sorry!) Gene
  22. Thought it was composed by Alfie Davidson. Do you know if he wrote it for the Imperials, Steve? BTW, the "Who's Gonna Love Me" LP by the Imps on Power Exchange is also worth picking up, and shouldn't go for more than a few quid.
  23. Rocket 88 was credited to Jackie Brenston, but is reported to be Ike Turner & His Kings of Rhythm. Still open to conjecture as to whether it really is the 1st rock n' roll record (1951), as "The Fat Man" by Fats Domino dates from 1949. Another good musician bites the dust.......shame he was a nasty bastard of a woman beater (lowest of the low IMO) and cokehead. "Sixfoot deep, Mountain High..............."
  24. Not sure on that one................
  25. Yep Ken - remember it well now. Solid centre on Tri-Spin wasn't it? Thinking back on it now, wasn't Ian Clark's Eddie Bishop demo on ABC also a solid centre press?
