  8. Hi Mike, Sorry to say that there's no market for Nina and Frederik as far as I know. Their records always crop up, and shouldn't go for more than about a couple of quid. I've had their version of Norweigan Wood for a few years - can't even give it away to a Beatles' collector! The only Nina and Frederik record of real credit is their Christmas EP, because of the connection to John Barry (either he produced it or it features his orchestra, or both). Gene
  9. The silk knickers were wrapped around these records Kirsty! Can't make the 100 Club tomorrow, but hope to see you soon so you can give me that kiss!

  11. I wouldn't have put either the green or blue Tarpon issue at any more than £70.
  12. NORMALLY USED ON BOOTLEGS: FINE FOR DJING: Play this at a major event and not only will you be thrown out, but also liable to pay the soul police the sum of £100 for playing a bootleg.
  13. In short, and speaking from experience, the UK police don't give a sh*t about frauds committed abroad, however may people they affect in the UK. Come to think of it, I doubt whether the Belgian police could care much either. They all just want to wash their hands of it, or just simply condone it for an easy way out. Personally, I prefer your latter option of collectively kicking the crap out of him!
  14. Pete, I would say it was a JA original. Some pressings continued to be pressed in Jamaica right through to the 1980s, but I would assume that later presses would have plain black and white labels (eg, Nina Simone on Bethlehem etc).
  15. '70s boot
  16. Here's another Faro label, and a nice "Story DJ" on De-Luxe (part of King/Federal):
  17. No, you're quite right Tommasso. Don Gardner sold for £10K a few years ago. Mello Souls not far off from that either (when it turns up).
  18. Apparently, the coloured boots were pressed up by Bob Catteno in the US, duiring the mid-70s.
  19. Lovely record, but the intro sounds like something out of '60s Bollywood!
  20. First and last copy of Ray Agee I saw on sale was on Ian Clark's list in 1984, for a mere £90! Jeez, if I knew then what I know now................

  22. Bump - some of the UK stuff gone, but all the US items are still available!
  23. Whilst not a soul singer by any means, one of my firm faves has to be Billy Fury. As well as his faithful emulation of American RnR and Rockabilly (most apparent on his "Sound Of Fury" LP), he had a voice never to be matched by anyone else. He also did cover a few soul/doo-wop-type originals, including "Letter Full Of Tears" by Don Covay, "All I Wanna Do Is Cry" by Billy Bland, "A Thousand Stars" by The Rivileers, etc. He was also consistently changing his style to fit in with what was in vogue at the time; in fact by 1962 he had given up his rockin' style and began to sing beat and ballads, which would have blended in well at the time.
  24. That's right G - defo an original! There are something like 2 or 3 diffrerent varieties of original, all differing by the label design or vinyl/styrene. This is a vinyl one.
