One good way of repairing cracks is to go over the B-side crack with the flame of a cigarette lighter for a couple of seconds. That seals the crack, but just be careful not to do it for longer than a second or two, because it starts to warp the vinyl and burn through to the other side. This method will make the B-side useless, so it's only a good idea if just one side is worth playing.

Very sad news...... https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7665594.stm

Susan Maughan's version is excellent. Love the way the lyrics were 'sanitised' for the UK market (they used "Are you thinking of that other place...when you hold me in your arms", rather than the suggestive "what you been getting in that other place....that you ain't been getting here")!

Yep - Craig is a top dealer with many years behind him.

I remember having a dark green label boot on really thick vinyl as well.

Hi Des, Hope you're well mate. I can confirm that Keb did cover it up as "I'm The Only One" by Jimmy Raye, and was played around Sept - Dec 1984. For a month or two, Keb actually used it as the starter record for his spots! At the time, and for a good few years after, it was thought to be a one-off. Strange how the only two known releases on GoGate are unbelievably rare!

Nice story Pete. In fact, I remember phoning you up just as you'd got home from buying Rise and Fall those years ago! A brilliant record - only got it as an album track though. Completely innocent song about how to eat boiled sweets!

Thought "Key To My Heart" (the B-side of Thunderball) got plays somewnere recently? Or has someone spiked my alcopops?

Gene-r replied to Mark Bicknell's topic in Record Wants
Here Ady, I'll trade you any one of these EPs or the demo 45 for the record on the Queen (something) label in the first pic. Don't know anything about it, but the label looks lovely.......And what are the Carios like? Don't know it, but looks intrsting inturesting entresting good. Fancy a trade on the British HBR EP here? -

Gene-r replied to Mark Bicknell's topic in Record Wants
I'll keep a look out for those Charlie Drake 45s Mark - have you got his version of "Volare" yet? The other side is a cover of "Itchy Twitchy Feeling" by Bobby Hendricks! I've a spare somewhere which I know is in nice nick - give us a shout if you're keen. Pictured below is my all-time fave Brit Comedy record - sadly, it's only available on 78, and the few versions of this on compilations are all '70s re-recordings: -
Last chance before most of these get thrown in the 'bay'!
