  1. Right - my side of the story (as far as I believe it). The maroon-red issues ARE boots, as far as I'm aware. Bought one in 1982. Has the tell-tale run-out grooves banded closely together. On playing it, two things were noticed: 1. Starts off slow, then quicky picks up speed (a bit like a record that wasn't quite cued up on the decks properly). 2. There is also a scratch that can be heard in the first few bars, which is not visible on the grooves, so it could only have come from a bad original. These two factors, coupled with the low-fi sound quality, make it too awful to be a legit reissue. On the UK DJM issues, they weren't pressed on red vinyl, but they do go red when held up to the light (like all other DJM / Pye releases of the time). These were taken from the Vee Jay reissues, as both sides have the three-note piano ending. PS: Since the Vee Jay label appears to have reactivated in 1975, could this have been responsible for the release of "Patience" by Rokk on Tollie that year?
  2. I believe that Bond Street PM has found its way on to loungecore and easy listening compilations over the last 15 years, so it's probably just getting its bearings as a lounge instrumental.
  3. Pete - select "Send Money", then choose the "Personal" option, and mark it as "Personal Payment Owed". No fees are chargeable on this category.
  4. Contrary to some belief, it appears to be released around 1964 - 1965.

  7. Does your gramophone arm cut through the surface to the other side when attempting to play it? If you answered YES, then it's definitely styrene
  8. Still a top tune tho Colin!
  9. All bootlegs are pressed on styrene. The original label logo displays as: LAMON RECORDS Established 1962 and the bootlegs as: LAMON RECORDS Established 1962
  10. Not the case with my Garrard 4HF and the TP12 tonearm Phil. It has an effective weight control and counter-balance on the back of the arm, which means that mine can still play at 2 grams (despite the 'bulbous' looking headshell!). I think this was the first UK tonearm to feature its own weight controller. Garrard called it the TP12 because it was the first hi-fi tonearm to measure 12 inches in length. The first one was made as early as 1957.
  11. Wow Di - they are lovely!!
  12. Pretty sure the original first issue was on a Yellow Atlantic?
  13. Most people tend to use a valve amp, but I use a normal Marantz amp through Wharfedale Valdus speakers. Still considering the valve options though........... Rock & Roll sounds brilliant on it, especially original US 45s and 78s!

  15. My ever faithful is my Garrard 4HF; a lovely transcription turntable manufactured between 1957 and 1965. It's still being used by some Reggae sound systems as well. I bought it on Ebay for £55 but, by the time I had it overhauled and fit for use, it cost me £250 for that alone. It's fitted with an Audio Technica cartridge, and has four speeds (16, 33, 45 and 78). Oh, and it even has a pitch control - probably one of the first after the Garrard 301! Both old and new vinyl sounds excellent played on it.
  16. Hi Simon, Sounds like the original version of "Lost Summer Love" by Shelley Fabares on Vee Jay could be right up your street. Great version! Gene
  17. I was told it was a genuine unreleased Audio Arts tape. However, in the know that the instrumental backing track was booted on the other side of "Losing Your Love" by The Incredibles, a few years before the Destiny LP was released, I still have a small sense of doubt. Could likely be a "These Heartaches - Dena Barnes" type jobbie?
  18. Think I may have posted these before, but for those who missed them......
  19. Last time I saw this up for sale was in Feb 1985 - JM wanted £20 for it on his list.
  20. Probably not a ha'porth of difference in between the current prices of the Rouser and Fairmount copies, are there?
  21. Final bump before the remaining items go on Ebay........
