  1. Speaking of that, anyone know what Soul Sam's Rajendra Kumar cover-up is?
  2. I've also got "Walk Away Renee" sung in French by Sylvie Vartan on a French RCA EP.
  3. Take it you don't have the original slices of garlic bread any more then Sean?
  4. Good call. Also like the Wess & The Airedales track "I'll Never Turn My Back On You". Sung in English, but an Italian recording. Incidentally, Wess went on to represent Italy as part of a duet in the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest!
  5. I have a version of "When The Lovelight Starts Shining Through Her Eyes" sung in French by Richard Anthony if that's a worthy addition.
  6. I often wondered about the Life label, having seen so many Brenda Lee LPs on the label. Thanks for the heads-up Tony!
  7. It would make an excellent thread topic and, like yourself, I'd love to know what other soul records were relased there. Things like "Comin' Home Baby" by Dee Dee Sharp and "The Champion" by Willie Mitchell were issued on 45 out there. These tracks are only available on LP in the States. Other question that springs to mind is that were they only targeted at the black South African population, given the Apartheid situation there until 1990? Would also be interesting to know how many were issued as 78s - I think they were pressing 78s in South Africa until around 1965. So, early Motown a possibility? I guess this is the point where we call on Tony Rounce's help - you got any nice SA label scans you can share?
  8. That one's from Sood Effrikah Reilly.
  9. For ages during the '70s (and due to the fault of literature around at the time), I went around thinking she was the same Sylvia who had a UK hit with "Y Viva Espana" in 1974!
  10. Or even -1 or -2 feedback if those unfortunate enough to be ripped off by him leave negative feedback. By the way, I always call my brother's wife 'Hun'.................after Atilla.
  11. Just checked this geezer's Ebay sales, and ALL his items, it appears, have been removed from sale.
  12. Anything by this awesome duet...........

  15. Looks pretty kosher to me - especailly when you look at the sharpness of the label and that you can tell it's a styrene press. Of course, not to mention the Jan '67 Delta matrix. My guess is that it's a bloody rare variant - even the typeface is unique. A typical Atco styrene press of its time, so there should be no questioning its authenticity.
  16. Giving a false location of USA as well - he's definitely not on this planet.
  17. Like a lot of M-Pac, Mar-V-Lus or One-Der-Ful pressings, they all play with a background hiss. Indeed, like a lot of Chicago pressed records. And yes - first issues of these were titled "The Spring Song" and "(New Girl)" in brackets.
  18. I wonder if top dollar spent on knackered copies could be due to the fact that top class rarities like these don't turn up that often, and the worry that sooner, rather than later, supply will eventually die out? Not counting things like Clara Hardy or the Royal Esquires of course!
  19. But Don Gardner beats both of those at around £10k!
  20. I would put "She's Fire" as THE rarest 45, before Frank Wilson.
  21. Someone buy this! Awesome track that uses the same backing track as "Up In Smoke" by Johnny Applachain on Goldie.
  22. Love to smash "I'm Waiting" by Bill Bush and "My Life" by Joe Jamrag - but would have to win the lotery first!
  23. P&P: Recorded in the UK: £2.20. Overseas: £6. I accept PayPal (no fees), cheque or PO. Please PM me to reserve any item. All items held for 3 days only. Good luck! SHOW STOPPERS: Heartbreaker (UK Beacon) MINT- £10 DOBIE GRAY: Out On The Floor (Charger) MINT- £20 The rarer thin-print label design - with one of these, you know you've got a definite original! LIZA-MAE: I Got A Juicy Mouth Baby (Concept) MINT- £40 Same backing track as "7 Days 52 Weeks" by Cody Michaels - A-side label on both sides THE MODS: Dry My Eyes (Fona) VG- £40 The vinyl has numerous surface marks, but nothing deep - plays EX-/VG+ (much better than it looks). THE FIRST GRADE: Please Come Back (Frog) MINT- £15 THE JIVE FIVE: You'll Fall In Love / Crying Like A Baby (Musicor WDJ) MINT- £15 Small mark at start of YFIL (pressing flaw) causes a light background pop for the first few revs BEVERLY McKAY: Baby You're So Right (Old Town WDJ) MINT- £15 Storage warp does not affect playing THE JIVE FIVE: A Bench In The Park (United Artists WDJ) MINT- (wol) £10 ED TOWNSEND: Stay With Me (Warner Bros YELLOW VINYL DJ) VG+ £8 Lovely yellow vinyl / gold label demo - only one I've seen so far.

CHRISTINE COOPER: SOS (Heart In Distress) (Parkway) MINT- CHUCK BERNARD: Every Hurt Makes You Stronger / Funny Changes (Satellite) VG+ (sw/nap - sld) Slight warp not affecting play, plus light damp on label JOHNNIE MAE MATTHEWS: Itty Bitty Heart (Spokane) VG/VG+ (stml) THE DOGS: Soul Step / THE DEL-CHORDS: I'm So Sorry (Treasure REISSUE) MINT- ROSCOE ROBINSON: How Much Pressure (Do You Think I Can Stand) (Wand DJ) EX+ THE FIVE STAIRSTEPS: Change Of Pace (Windy City WDJ) MINT-
  25. This is true - Excellent only appears to be used in the UK, whereas VG+ is the next step down from MINT- in the USA.
