  1. Thandie Newton's dad had a lisp...............
  2. Jayboy WAS the original UK issue and dates from 1972. It was also the only UK issue to use the same cut released on Keymen (you know, the cut with massive reverb all the way through). The DJM issue dates from around 1976, and uses the cut that VeeJay reissued around that time.
  3. P&P recorded/registered: £2 within the UK. £6 the rest of the world. I accept PayPal (no fees), cheque or PO. Please PM me to reserve any item - all records held for THREE DAYS ONLY. JOHNNY ADAMS: Come On (UK Top Rank) EX- £20 Nice R&B/soul dancer - sold my last one on here within two days! Light background click during intro. THE SHOW STOPPERS: Just A Little Bit Of Lovin' / School Prom (UK Beacon WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING) VG+ (no centre) £5 Handwritten credits. Lots of light surface marks due to storage without a cover but, surprisingly, plays Excellent. 4. Great record. The Lauren issue credited to Dry Well was released in 1970. Was a Justin Hayward composition of course! I think the Ellen & The Shandells issue was on La Salle?
  5. I'd say it's more likely to be French or German - Dutch Fontana 45s were issued with centres and blue labels.
  6. Well, it looks like Ebay do take the issue of fake bidders seriously and listen to us sellers - bretdeamer has now been NARUd, and GOOD RIDDANCE!
  7. Thankfully my second chance bidder accepted the offer, and it's now gone to the right person. What may be a good idea for most sellers is to update their buyer requirements, as I have. You can block people without a credit card on their account, and select the minimum feedback requirements for it (eg, feedback of 1 or less).
  8. I can't understand how these weird bastards get off on doing this. Why?
  9. Member 'Brett Deamer' (bretdeamer on Ebay - notice the mispelling of his own name) has bid on one of my items - he has zero feedback. Well, until a few minutes ago when another seller pointed him out as someone who has returned as a fake bidder (don't know why he gave him a positive - may have been the only way to get the warning across). I had my suspicions about him as soon as I received his bid at the last minute (due to the fact I don't allow zero feedback bidders to bid on my items). His registered address is 2 Marylebone Road, London, which is a business address. At this early point in time, he appears to target Ska and Reggae sales. Sellers beware.................
  10. One of my real pet hates is dealers who say "really nice condition considering its age", or the like. FFS, don't they realise that vinyl only deteriorates through misuse, and not with age?????
  11. I'd say about £25 - £30 would be the going rate for a Mint lookalike.
  12. Thanks to Tony Rounce who shone some light on this for me via PM!
  13. Does anyone know if this was issued as a 45? Wouldn't mind one, if the price is right of course! For those who don't know the track, here's the commercial it was used in this year:
  14. Is this a remake of the original version from 1951? Also, Ross Bagdasarian is best known as David Seville, the original voice behind The Chipmunks.
  15. Well Dave, as the saying goes, 'if I knew then what I knew now.............' Funny thing is, when I played it during my guest spot at the 100 Club in Nov 1986, hardly anyone batted an eyelid, and the floor was virtually empty. It only filled back up when I followed it up with "If This Isn't Love" by Johnny Bartel! I first heard this played by Tony Clayton at Peterborough in 1983. I'm assuming it was the late Nev Wherry's copy, given that Tony bought his collection from his widow.
  16. Yep - totally concur with you about the lo-fi quality of the Captions, Dave. Of the few I've seen (my old copy included), they all had their labels on the right side. Didn't know the press run of this had suffered reversed labels - only the Four Reputations.
  17. You're not kidding Pete! Got it from Ian Clark at the 100 Club in Feb '85 for £10 - he offered me a choice of two copies; one with the footballer and one without. Did it go to you, or to Mick Smith? Can't remember, but you're right - I would have outed it for around £30.
  18. Supposed to have also come out on Radio City - anyone ever seen one???
  19. And talking of Indian 78s, just how neat are these (note release years)!
  20. I've a feeling this could be a genuine UK double-sided acetate cut by Decca in 1961. 78 acetates were still being cut right through the 60s and 70s, mainly because of the improved sound quality so that they could be played as backing tracks on TV programmes, mainly for the artist to mime to. Judging by the sound quality of your acetate, it could be one of those that was rejected because of the poor quality. Another theory thickens the plot. Acetates in the UK and US normally didn't have matrix numbers. I wonder if this was a test cut for a scheduled release somewhere else in the world? Probably the "11262" is the date on which the acetate was cut (ie, 11 February 1962). As an aside, both tracks were pressed in India as 78s (Neil Sedaka on RCA and the Mar-Keys on London). Someone let an Indian 78 of "Last Night" go on Ebay for around £80 a few years ago. The Sedaka was also on 78 in South Africa, but not sure about the Mar-Keys. With the possible date of February 1962 in mind, bear in mind how long records take to be released in another country - can be anything like 6 months after its original release. I've seen an Indian 78 of "Multiplication" by Bobby Darin. Whilst this was a UK Top 10 hit in 1961, the release year given on the Indian 78 is 1962 (a bit like the Billy Fury label scan in my next post below, which was also a 1961 UK hit - note the year of 'publication'). Hope this helps.
  21. That is the hallmark of a true gentleman. Respect to you Chris.
  22. I would imagine this to be much rarer than The Ivories on Wand, and would swipe a guess at the finishing price being around $1,600.
  23. NOW SOLD - THANKS!.
  24. NOW SOLD - THANKS!
  25. Thanks Gareth - you obviouly knew why I had targeted that one!
