  1. Oh please Phil - I used to love it until you gave me that visionary! Musically, it even has exactly the same key changes!
  2. Judging by the general consensus, the Hy-Tones is:
  3. https://shop.ebay.co.uk/schofield3/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562
  4. All demos, as far as known, play with a hiss and are generally low-fi. I think the story with the issues is that they play perfectly, but are extremely rare, although there are some around.
  5. If truth be told, it's a record I've always loved since first hearing it in 1989 when Gary Spencer played it covered up as "I Love You Just The Same" by Lee Otis Valentine. (ducks under the parapet)........
  6. Can't vouch for that, but I do know that the '79 reissues of "I Got The Fever" by The Prophets (for the beach music scene) on BSP credited them as the Georgia Prophets. Maybe that's where the confusion arises??
  7. Both the Advance boots are horrendously speeded up. "Lonely Lover" misses a second off the intro.
  8. I remember you sold me a blue Tarpon issue about 10 years ago - for very low double figures!
  9. Yes there was Dave. There was a mustard-colour label with TOOT in large green letters forming the shape of a trumpet, and there's the yellow lined label (using the same typeface as Otis Lee on Quaint) which you have. I think the lined one is rarer (about £30 as opposed to £20). Definitely not booted.
  10. Yep - you're not wrong there mate!!
  11. Hi Kriss, Welcome to the site. As a collector of most other things (not just soul), I can advise you on this. Pity your stereo copy of Rubber Soul doesn't have a sleeve, and is only G to VG condition. With a sleeve, you're probably looking at about £70+ for a minter, but since the sleeve really gives it its value (irrespective of it being a Mono or Stereo issue), it's not worth anything - there are far too many copies around in less than average condition, and a collector's going to want the LP in its original sleeve. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but best to be honest than have your hopes falsely built up! Gene
  12. Pete - if you ever get one for sale, I'll expect to see it on your list as the Shi-Tones!
  13. I could be proven wrong, but I think there are more copies on Southern Artists flying around, making the Bell press rarer.
  14. Have to say I'm surprised too. Thought it would only go for around £800 top whack.
  15. OH BUM! That means I let a vinyl original go for £5 a few years ago......................

Buy it! Only copy I've seen on sale in 26 years of knowing about it. This was Pete Myles "Bobby F*knoze" cover-up from the mid-80s. Highly recommended UK collectable and superb mid-tempo tune!

  18. Just what I've always thought - the see-through ones have a bevelled edge as well.
  19. Legit Columbia reissue from 1977. Boots are on Pussycat, and have the same track both sides.
  20. I was hard pushed to get rid of my UK Philips copy of "Double Shot" for £5 a couple of years ago. Of the pop-psych UK Philips 45s, I've always regarded "Open Up Your Door" by Richard & The Young Lions as one of the rarest. Only ever seen one, and that was the one that passed through my hands about 8 years ago.
  21. Turner, Ike & Tina Oh baby! (Phil Spector logo label) UK/fantastic!/DJ's - PLAY IT!!!! A&M 15 About time this was recognised for the excellent sound it is - I can definitely recommend!
  22. Preferred her in Sex & The City!
  23. Also issued on Red Boy (is this a different cut to the Sandbag release?).
