  1. Absolutely hysterical with laughter that you find it funny. We're not all know-alls of the world or privileged members of the soul / reggae MENSA, you know - just as well, otherwise I'd probably be in fear of being a patronising little shite like yourself who looks down their nose at everyone, thinking he's so better then everyone else. Still, at least I have a more coherent grasp of the English language without the gratuitous use of capitals or icons when making my point. My thanks to Pete for putting me right on that, by the way.
  2. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but would the Carl Palmer who produced this be the same man from Emerson, Lake and Palmer?
  3. Alison, the last I heard of Dom was around 1989, when he was DJing on pirate station Swinging Radio England, under the pseudonym of Dirty Dom Perignon. Would be good to hear from him again - if you're out there Dom, post something up and let us know how you're getting on!
  4. Lucky git Derek!
  5. And a top man he was! Wonder what he's doing now?
  6. I remember when myself and Dom Bassett set up Friday and Sunday nites at Woolwich Poly during the autumn of 1984. For the first couple of weeks, most of our punters were students from the poly. If we'd let them have their way, our playlist would have consisted of every Pink Floyd track they ever released to that date!
  7. Yep - just like the prick who used to come to a club I regularly played at, and would complain to whichever DJs were on - not just about the music, but also the carpet fittings, size of room, colour of curtains draping the windows, you name it! I'm sure he'll know who he is if he reads this.
  8. Nothing wrong with that Dean - they were obviously game!
  9. Steve, I stand to be corrected, but I'm sure "Tell Me What It's All About" was only available in the UK as an LP track. A great track, and the US 45 on UA looks awesome! Popsike shows that a demo went for $50 two years ago. I've had a copy of "Keep On Running" by Jackie Edwards on New Zealand Philips, which I found out there whilst on honeymoon - sold it to a mate about 10 years ago. Wonder if his version of "Somebody Help Me" (covered by Spencer Davis) was released on 45, and in which countries? As a personal fave of mine, there is something about "Tell Me Darling" which really grips me (released on UK Starlite in 1960). Not soul, but just a lovely-sounding ballad.
  10. Personally, I prefer this one at a fraction of the cost.
  11. Sellers like that should put sound clips on their sales. Then again, all you'd hear is the sound of a barrel being scraped........
  12. I'd say it was a post-1967 issue.
  13. Why do you think I don't waste time answering wants ads on here? This example says it all.

  16. Casually searching Popsike for something else, and I came across this. Evidently sold on Ebay in June. Didn't know it was released on any other label than Tuff. Anyone know anything about this issue? Legal? Re-issue? Bootleg, etc? https://www.popsike.com/Chicago-Soul-E-Rodney-Jones-RB-Time-Pts-1-2-on-Charisma-418-Chicago-WVON-DJ/251090860908.html
  17. Aren't you supposed to ask them for their bank account number and sort code?
  18. Sounds to me like a freeloader trying to fraudulently get a discount, Keith. You do get them on Ebay.
  19. THE CAPITOLS: Cool Jerk (UK Atlantic 45 - 584004) EX+ (stml) SOLD BUDDY GRECO: Time's A-Wastin' (UK Columbia) EX+ / MINT-. SOLD JOHNNY MATHIS: Come Back (UK HMV) EX+. 20. NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR SALE - SORRY.
  21. Had every one of them Ian, and also blocked every one of them from future bidding!
  22. Must admit Pete, I do get the odd ignorant buyer on Ebay whose vocabulary doesn't extend further than 2 syllables. The way I see it is they're doing that for everyone they buy from, but they're not really deserving of a wordy feedback in return, if that's all the effort they make.
  23. Erm.......OK?
  24. BUDDY GRECO: Time's A-Wastin' (UK Columbia) EX+ / MINT-. This is a lovely blue-eyed stomper, which hasn't yet gained the full recognition it really deserves - a few plays and this will have its day. The only thing preventing this from being Mint- is a few light spindle trails on the centre. If you've not heard it yet, someone's put it on YouTube: £25 plus P&P. P&P (registered): UK: £2. REST OF THE WORLD: £6.50. Please PM me if interested. I no longer reserve items, so the first to pay gets it (PayPal only, please take note). Thanks! Gene
  25. Always loved 78s and still buy them, though not in the quantity I used to. I started off collecting UK chart hits from 1952 to 1969, so the bulk of releases up to 1958 were best available on 78 - I stll have all of them! What I do now have is a nice 78 issue of "Baby Please Don't Go" by Jo Ann Henderson on Phonograph, and I've been trying to find a release date for it - not easy!
