  1. Ernie Wheelwright, who recorded "In Your Arms" on Gaye, was an American footballer before he took over ownership of a nightclub and ended up rubbing shoulders with the Mafia.
  2. Something definitely fishy going on.............
  3. All right for what is supposedely a 1987 release of an unreleased tape (if I'm not mistaken).
  4. Also, it was rumoured that copies of "Mamma Mia" by Abba were pressed with a really awful pop vocal on both sides.............but it actually turned out that they weren't mispresses.
  5. Some copies of "Bopping In The Barnyard" by The Bubbles on Duke (the Melodisc subsidiary, not the Trojan one) play "Rockin' Crickets" by the Hot Toddys. The slip-up apparently happened because Pye pressed up some of Melodisc's 45s, and had just pressed the Hot Toddys' 45 on Pye International. Must have forgotten to replace the stampers for the initial batch of pressings.
  6. Roscoe Robinson How Much pressure /Do It Right Now Wand 1143 £3 (wol)Vg +++ Can't recommend the A-side of this enough - and a steal at £3!
  7. That's how I send 78s - save for the self-explanatory instructions on the stiffener.
  8. Was the instrumental only available on the stock copy?
  9. "If music be the food of love...........then we are all nymphomaniacs".
  10. New release vinyl still holds out well, particularly the indie label releases. "Skyfall" by Adele on a new release 7" 45 is crystal-clear, and a much warmer sound to its CD or digital equivalent. Actually, some of the batch of recent 50s / 60s boots still sound excellent. Charles Sheffield on Excello and Eugene Jefferson on Open are perfect, decent-sounding examples. The boot of "My Boy Lollipop" by Barbie Gaye, however, is quite a soft recording in comparison.
  11. Yes, I can see what you mean now. The intro does sound similar to "This Old Heart Of Mine". Though I reckon it's plagiarised from both tracks - the chorus is definitely copied from "I Guess I'll Always Love You". One can just imagine Berry Gordy's hissy-fit on hearing Lillie Bryant!
  12. You don't mean "I Guess I'll Always Love You" instead, do you Pete? I was thinking of the chorus that goes: "Open up your arms And let me walk on in Open up your heart And let me live again"
  13. Pete Smith's 'Temptations' are the records on his sales list!
  14. Also worth noting that the boots have about 5 or 6 closely spaced run-out grooves. Sound quality is also softer than the original. From memory, the other side of the boot has a black star instead of a red one - is that right?
  15. Not bad - 40% success rate!
  16. Well? How did you get on? Or has the auction not finished yet?
  17. Thought it was just small-talk!
  18. As far as I know, it was just the 'Advance' boots from 1984 that were speeded up - and by that, I mean sped up by a hell of a lot. I've heard acetates from around this time (mine included) and they all seem to play at the right speed. "Lonely Lover" by Marvin Gaye also suffered the same fate.
  19. No worries mate - I'm just sorry for you with this situation with tapes. I really hope things sort themselves out for you. You're a 100% honest and reliable seller (and a good friend), and you really don't deserve all this.
  20. Sorry Pete - but I don't think we're talking about the same person here.
  21. I saw the 'unreserved apology' - I just don't buy it. Judging by your other stupid, irrelevant posts on here, you're just a kid who likes trolling. By the way, do you only reserve records these days where profits are dedicated to charities, then?
  22. I doubt this so-called 'problem' has anything to do with you messing around with members' sales, and leaving stupid comments on other threads. This time you picked on the wrong person, got the negative feedback you deserved, and prove in posts like this what a bad loser you are. Therefore, it is with pleasure that I can assure you that you are still blocked. Far out, man!
  23. One more twat to add to my blocked bidder list.................yes, you "tapes".
  24. That's logical - coffee and doughnuts go hand in hand, Paul!
