This' Maze' was a white beat group. Released on Calla in July 1967. Also released in France on Mercury. A-side is "Chained To Your Heart", and supposedly a cover of Bobby Moore. Have no idea of value.

Hi Gary, From memory, it was covered up as The Vondells "Gonna Have To Put You Down". Don't remember Keb playing it, but certainly Ion and Tony Clayton. My copy isn't on these shores any more - sold it to Dave Flynn a few years ago!

Exactly Winnie. Over the year, where he's posted up five different surveys, he's not followed ANY of them up with results or findings, or even thanks - he has never even given his name. Quite a rude, intrusive approach. He's obviously just trying to use us.

That comment itself confused me, and got me asking myself "is he a psychology student trying to make himself sound better than he really is, or actually a practising psychologist working at the Uni"? If it's the former, then definitely no chance of help from me. I don't like pretentious, boastful people fabricating their titles just to make themselves sound good - my family are experts in doing that, which is why I've cut off from most of them.

SO WHAT? As I said, and as a couple of others have already said, it's pointless. It's also a naive and selective questionnaire, in that only 'carefully' selected genres of music get a mention. Why should we pander to someone just because they have a PhD? Does that make them better than us? Does it give them the right to judge / analyse us? I personally find his demeanour in the thread heading "are you addicted to soul" and referring to us as "fans" rather condescending, patronising and more than a tad ignorant - a bit like parents criticising the 'pop music' their kids listen to. I treat survey requests like this just as I do spam mail and unsolicited phone calls...............with contempt, unless I stand to gain something personally from it at no expense. This is the fifth survey request from the same person in the space of a year - one of which spammed another thread. Just one patronising request which addresses us like kids is annoying enough, and a good enough reason for me to refuse to do it.

Or a scratch going in the opposite direction of one that causes a jump. As a rough guide, a scratch in this direction (/) will cause the record to jump, whereas one in this direction () is likely to make it stick.

Take care with styrene records - too much pressure on the stylus may cause a permanent hiss.

I usually treat jumps on an old mono record player I have. My trick is to hold down the cartridge over the area where it jumps whilst playing, stopping it doing so, and repeating this process a few times. Unless it's a really nasty, deep scratch (or an original copy of Gwen Owens ), it always works. Can also be done with records that stick.
