  1. It's true to say he had just one Top 20 hit in 1967 with Al Capone, but he also had a Top 30 hit (No. 21) with a re-recording of Whine and Grine in 1998.
  2. And he composed this gem for The Martells................

  4. Originals also have a serrated edge around the label.
  5. Joey Heatherton was better known as an actress than a singer. Her TV series include The Virginian, I-Spy, It Takes A Thief, Love American Style and Laverne & Shirley.
  6. It wasn't covered up on the wide spectrum, Chalky - at least not as far as I'm aware. Only by me once or twice in small club guest spots as Rita & The Tiaras! Not sure about the Betty Wilson c/u though?
  7. Yep - it's "The Right One" by Dolly & The Fashions on Ivanhoe. I actually covered this up briefly as "I'll Know" by Rita & The Tiaras in the mid-80s. "Just Another Fool" is the flip-side. Nowadays, around £25 well spent.
  8. Two different presses of this - one styrene press, and a vinyl press distributed by Atco. Both command around the same price (ie, £20 - £25).
  9. AL CASTELLANOS: The Speak Up Mambo (US Mardi Gras). Strong VG+ (1" mark on B-side which doesn't affect play) Has been attracting some Popcorn interest lately. £15 plus P&P MIKE HUDSON: One Sided Love (UK Columbia) VG+ (some surface marks, a couple of heavy marks on B-side which do not affect play) Nice beat ballad. £8 plus P&P P&P: UK - £1.60 (£2.20 registered). 10. "Hit And Run" - Rose Battiste
  11. More money than sense, I would imagine............
  12. Len, Apart from the well-known covers (Cliff Bennett & The Rebel Rousers and Earth, Wind & Fire), could it have been one of these? Carmen MacRae (US Atlantic) The Hands Of Time (US Sidewalk) Lou Rawls (US MGM) The Surprise Sisters (UK Good Earth) The Cole Brothers (US Jamie)
  13. I've heard nothing else anywhere about her death, and I can't find the YouTube clip. As the song title goes, "I won't believe it 'til I see it".
  14. Realistically, I wouldn't say more than about £30. It was a No. 2 hit in New Zealand at the end of 1967, and I had to struggle to get £8 for mine this time last year.
  15. Wasn't "What Did You Gain" originally a 1970 release?
  16. The reissues of "What Did You Gain By That" and "My Garden of Eden" by Kennard on Dore also have the same delta matrices as the originals. Can't remember what they were, but from the two copies I owned, "What Did You Gain..." seemed to date around 1970, and the B-side around 1966.
  17. Well, since you asked Mike, it's recently come to my attention that at least two of these are currently being auctioned on Ebay - as "continental releases". https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sam-Williams-Love-Slipped-Through-My-Fingers-Lets-Talk-It-Over-Tower-/152117897373?hash=item236aeee89d:g:~QwAAOSwnFZXVT2q https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Magnetics-I-Have-a-Girl-Love-Devotion-Ra-Sel-/152117901204?hash=item236aeef794:g:sHUAAOSwuhhXVUAT
  18. Yep - to now put a finer point on it, I read of a release date for the Gloreco issue of November 1962 a few months ago. According to the RCA matrix stamp, it was definitely released in 1962 in any case.
  19. Looks to me like a legit 70s reissue. "You're The One" by Ronnie Walker was reissued using exactly the same label design and the original stampers.
  20. I think that 'weird jump' in the instrumental section was down to a bad master tape edit.
  21. Tony bought the collection of Nev Wherry after he passed away, and yes, he did have some lovely items in his collection.
  22. Joe, receiving a final value fee means that your fees for advertising/selling on Ebay will show as a credit on your next online invoice. As four days has now elapsed since you opened the unpaid item dispute, you can now choose to either close the case and claim your fees, or keep it open. I think Ebay close the case automatically within the space of a few weeks (I don't know how many exactly though) if you or the buyer don't take any action on it. If this happens, then the case closes in your favour and your final value fees are credited to you.
  23. Yo You can do this two days after the auction closes, and then at least four days has to elapse from then before you can close the case, and claim your final value fees. You should also block any bidders who either refuse to pay, or delay payment for no good reason. This can be done by going to your "blocked buyer list" under the Help screen.
  24. Sounds just like Mick. Probably one of the most humble and modest characters you could ever wish to meet on the scene. I doubt we'll ever see his like again - he really was one of a kind.
