  1. Hmm, name calling and personal attacks.......that's a rather desperate, defensive low, isn't it? Not very mature or clever, either. And before you go on the defensive again, don't try accusing me of personal attacks - it won't wash. I don't need to explain my use of the word "balls", in the same context others use the word "crap" or even "rubbish". You're bang out of order and you know it. Still trying to throw your 'ex-moderator' weight around.
  2. Sure is Pete - but you're spot on about "Everybody's Got You", which was a 1967 release. According to 45cat, their US Roulette releases, with release dates are: R 4494: Easier Said Than Done / Are You Going My Way (May 1963) R 4515: A Walkin' Miracle / What I Don't Know Won't Hurt Me (Aug 1963) R 4530: She's Got Everything / Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind (Nov 1963) R 4542: What Did I Do / Curfew Lover (Feb 1964) R 4564: When Somethin's Hard To Get / Don't Fight It Baby (credited to Anita Humes) (July 1964) R 4750: Everybody's Got You (For Their Own) / Are You Going My Way" (July 1967) Dave Rimmer's Soulful Kinda Music page seems to concur: https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/essex.htm Actually, one thing I didn't know until checking Wiki was that Anita Humes died in 2010. Did anyone else know?
  3. Balls. It was released as a single in February 1964, around the same time the LP was given a UK release (despite the "Recording First Published 1963" on the label). A couple of months after the LP, more like.
  4. I'm afraid "What Did I Do" isn't, Tony! Must admit, it was one of the first tracks I looked for in the track listing. "Curfew Lover" was the B-side of the single, wasn't it? Strange that "What Did I Do" isn't on the LP though, especially when two other A and B-sides were - disappointing in some ways I guess.
  5. Well deserved, Pete!
  6. Being Charger's best-seller, it was probably outsourced to various pressing plants to cope with the demand. The yellow Charger label looks good!
  7. Just found this lovely gem whilst out rummaging. Never knew it existed! It's apparently their second UK LP, but I've never seen the first one, "Easier Said Than Done". Anyone know if it exists?
  8. Here are two sleeves from my collection. The first is from a shop called C. Jeavons which, judging by the addresses, appeared to have three branches in the North East. Back and front of sleeve shown. The second eerie-looking sleeve is actually for a 78. I have no idea where this is from - anyone know?
  9. I think the gents' toilets in the 100 Club have since been repaired, Winnie!
  10. And a church bell version of that intro is currently used on the Mars bar advert - the one with the three monks / bellringers.
  11. The bootleg's label is a lighter shade of purple (as opposed to dark maroon) with a gloss finish. There is also a few seconds of light distortion on the bootleg before the intro (a bit like a record that was cut on to an acetate with original distortion left on before the start - you know what I mean). The bootleg is also a much quieter recording. Spot the difference:
  12. Yep - incredibly rare, and I'd say it's gotta be worth £500 of anyone's money.
  13. I would agree Dave - about £470 for John Andrews easily, but only about £30 for the Fats demo.
  14. DARLENE LOVE: Lord If You're A Woman (UK Phil Spector 12" single-sided demo) EX+ (comes in its original Phil Spector die-cut 12" sleeve). £8 plus P&P P&P - £2.40 in UK, £7 Airmail to Europe, £9 Airmail outside Europe). PayPal only please (no fees). Please PM me if interested. First come, first served - I no longer reserve items. Thanks! Gene
  15. Interesting - if that's the case, then this would date the Lavonne Bridges (and possibly the Sheri Taylor) at around 1961 - 62.
  16. This ad actually dates from 1962.
  17. Realistically I would guess at anything between £10 - £15 each. Though, judging by the calibre of some tracks on the comps, probably anything up to £25 in some cases.
  18. You want to see some of the other boots in his auctions being passed off - James Bounty on Compass, Evie Sands on green Cameo (listed as a Cameo DJ 45), and I'm sure that Furys on Keymen is a boot as well. The green lettering looks blotchy in parts, just like my old boot was.
  19. It was when he mentioned Joe 90 that I had to struggle to keep from smiling whilst viewing this in the office!
  20. Great double-sider - "Crying In The Rain" really does deserve more recognition.
  21. To be honest Dave, I've seen far worse get to No. 1 in the UK singles charts over the past couple of decades, which doesn't say a great deal at all for the taste in modern music in the UK!
  22. Harkit that! The pic is actually from the front cover of her "Johnny Get Angry" LP, released in 1962.
  23. Love Me Again is currently No. 1 in the UK Top 40 singles chart.
