  1. Thanks for that Ricky. Perhaps it's safe to say that it does turn up, and goes for around £12 - 15. Great stuff - I wasn't able to find out anything on this, so well done! It's quite a strange Vietnam record, narrated over someone playing "As Tears Go By" on guitar, complete with background sound effects of gunfire and explosion, but I really like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIWRkNNhYBI
  2. Heard this for the first time a few months back. Does anyone know the value of it, or if it's rare / one-off / common etc? I've searched and, apart from a clip of both sides on YouTube, found nothing else on it. I remember Derek Pearson gave it a mention in Shades of Soul in the early '90s. Derek - if you're out there, maybe you can shine some light on it for us please? Cheers.
  3. Please PM if interested in any of these. First come, first served - items no longer reserved. P&P (registered) in UK: £3.75. REST OF EUROPE: £10. OUTSIDE EUROPE: £13 (per LP). PayPal only please! Good luck. Covers graded first, then record. See scans of covers and labels below. PS - I WILL ALSO DO THE LOT FOR £75 PLUS P&P (£6.50 in UK - a quote will be given outside the UK if required). TOMMY NAVARRO: Twist Around The Town (Urania) EX- / VG++ (scratch on Side 2 which can be heard as a light pop at end of track 2, some of track 3, and about 5 revs of track 5) "Tell Me What You Gonna Do / IndianTwist / Summertime / Bugsie Twist / Lonely Teardrops / Casey Twist / Sticks & Stones / Glow Worm Twist / I'll Be Satisfied / Careless Twist / I'm Comin' On Back / Around The Town Twist". £20 FREDA PAYNE: How Do You Say I Don't Love You Anymore (MGM) EX / EX (Features "On Easy Street" - much dancier than O C Smith's version, and played by Keb in the mid '80s). "How Do You Say I Don't Love You Anymore? / Yesterday / San Juan / You Never Should Have Loved Me / Let It Be Me / On Easy Street / That Lovin' Feelin' / It's Here For You / Feeling Good / Sad Sad September / If You Love Me / Too Late". £20 GENE CHANDLER: The Duke Of Earl (Vee Jay) VG+ / EX- (cover has sellotape stain on top edge, and two splits on bottom edge. Comes with original Vee Jay inner sleeve). "Duke Of Earl / Stand By Me / Festival Of Love / Daddy's Home / I Wake Up Crying / Turn On Your Love Light / Nite Owl / I'll Follow You / Big Lie / Kissin' In The Kitchen / So Many Ways / Lonely Island". £20 ALVIN CASH & THE REGISTERS: Twine Time (Mar-V-Lus) EX / EX (2 small surface tears the size of a penny on back cover) "Shake A Tail Feather / Twine Awhile / Hawk Eye / Bump / Twine Time / Fool That I Am / Barracuda / You Shot Me Thru The Grease / In Need Of Love / Burn Just A Hair / Shake / Do It One More Time". £20 BOBBY BLAND: Touch Of The Blues (ABC Duke - 1977 STEREO REISSUE) EX / EX (MCA number stamped on front cover, and BB hole on bottom corner). (Features the brilliant "Sweet Lips of Joy" and, of course, "Shoes" - all in true stereo!) "Touch Of The Blues / Set Me Free / That Did It / Road of Broken Hearted Men / Sweet Loving / Driftin' Blues / Sweet Lips Of Joy / Sad Feeling / Shoes / One Horse Town". £10

  5. Pretty much what acts like Pat Boone, Georgia Gibbs and the Crew Cuts were doing with their blue-eyed cover versions of black R&B records during the '50s - the words kick and balls come to mind.
  6. This French EP should be worth picking up if only just for "Strange World" by The Majestics https://www.popsike.com/RARE-FRENCH-EP-THE-MAJESTIC-THE-SHERWOODS-AND-MATTHEW-REID/360696586472.html
  7. I could have sworn they were pressed in 1983, because that's when I remember the boots flooding the market. But, of course, I stand to be corrected!
  8. They are indeed both exactly the same tune. Not sure why there was a change of artist name between the two releases though. The Linda release, credited to The Majestics, was released late 1965, whilst the Rampart and Warner Bros releases, both credited to David and Ruben, date from 1969.
  9. And a different B-side to the UK issue.
  10. Seriously though, and to be honest, I'd refund the buyer and still send him the record, in all fairness.
  11. These days, Haggle Vinyl in Islington, London will take some beating as having the most miserable, obnoxious and pig-ignorant proprietor. I've been at the receiving end of the shyster proprietor, Lynn Alexander, on his good days and on his bad days, who is heard to say in a YouTube documentary about the shop, that "most of his customers are f***ing idiots". But then, it's people like Lynn (now 75 years of age) who, unfortunately, become record dealer folklore, and will always be remembered and spoken about, though not for any good attributes. He really knows f**k-all about record collecting, or the music itself, having taken over the shop from a friend. He also has a well-deserved bad report on recordjunkie.com: https://www.recordjunkie.com/stores/view/231 I think that I will make a point of stating in my will that when I die, my records should be sold - but NOT to Lynn Alexander or anyone representing Haggle Vinyl! The documentary is in three parts, so excuse the three YouTube clips that are about to display, but well worth watching (refer to part 3 for the "f***ing idiots" quote): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaCfWjfEs8s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IUE0mY84eI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__obPz-1rIw
  12. So let me get this right - it's not worth going for the first copy that was discovered because it's a bit battered?
  13. There was a 'timeline' of the history of Frank Wilson in the first issue of Kev Roberts' "Northern Soul Top 500" issued in 2000 - pretty sure something like that was mentioned in it somewhere (either it fell behind a heater or was left somewhere hot and developed the edge warp)?
  14. Didn't that fall behind a heater on the stage of a niter or something?
  15. I had the volume with "Only Your Love Can Save Me" by the Marvelettes on cassette, but can't remember which volume it was.
  16. The Motown Disco Classics series from around the same time had some choice tracks as well. As Pete said, someone at Motown must have had their finger on the pulse, as almost every track was a dancer, and a lot of 'Northern' dancers as well. From what I can remember, the tracks melted into each other without a gap (probably like the "Non Stop Tamla Hits" LP in back street blue's post). I think there were about 5 volumes of this - anyone confirm?
  17. Don't suppose you've still got the classical LPs have you, Derek? There are certain items that are quite rare, especially from the late '50s / early '60s. Drop me a line if you need any help with knowing what they're worth - will help if I can.
  18. I Apologise Baby is the same as P J Proby's version on the filp side of "It's Your Day Today" on UK Liberty. Shame it doesn't sell for that side - could have outed my P J Proby version!
  19. Would have been around 1971-72 from memory - is that right?
  20. Interesting stuff there Pete - didn't even know he had died.
  21. Ya booger!! (Oh no - I've got no toys to throw out of my pram!!!)
  22. That's him, Pete! Thought I'd seen him on the Golden Shot all those years ago. From what I can remember, he had really white / grey hair?
  23. I'd hazard a guess at around £600 these days?
  24. Would that be the same Lovelace Watkins who made a brief appearance on UK TV in the early '70s?
  25. And what about it? You got a problem with it?
