  7. Always a pleasure John!
  8. John, The Contacts on Quadran sells for about £200 - £250 (beware of white label bootlegs), and the Flairs on Rap for about £20 - £25. Gene
  9. I've been told that the gold label re-issues are ARCHER stamped; a sign of using the original stampers, perhaps? Mind you, the same thing was said of the boots of "That's The Way He Is" by Ann Perry. Released by the label owner, yet the sound quality is crap - crackle in the intro, and a slight fluctuation in sound, which speeds up for a note. I'd have thought the label owner would have taken a bit more care if that story was true. Moral - believe very little of what you read, and none of what you hear!!! Having said that, I wonder if anyone can confirm the ARCHER stamping on the Four Voices re-issues? Would be keen to know......... Gene
  10. Attention Ebay sellers, to the above post! For all sales on Ebay, you probably know that Ebay charge the seller something between 5 - 10% of the final price. Just as well this was withdrawn, else the seller would have been charged a commission of between $1M and $2M, even if it was a hoax!!! Doesn't bear thinking about, does it? Gene
  11. Hi Grant, I'm not surprised Ebay withdrew it! Basically, it was an ad in the "Records" section headed "Post your vitriole at Ebay changes here" and, for a laugh, those who posted their messages of disgust also placed a spoof high bid, as if bidding for a record which was on auction. About 20 people posted their vent on the Ebay changes (and yes, by the devil I was tempted, but held back!), and the top bid was something silly like $25,000,000!! Ebay must somehow have taken exception to it - but have you read throught the thread on Ebay's chat board in disgust of the changes? JTrouble has posted the hyperlink above here - have a look, and you can see just how much hostility Ebay have created. Will they revert to the old standards? I think not!! After all, it is Ebay!! Gene PS - Incidentally, the guy who placed the "ad" was called something like "oneloosecannon"!!!
  12. Have a look at this for a laugh (I was tempted to put in my penny's worth!): https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...42&category=306 but couldn't afford to outbid the highest bidder!! Gene
  13. I receive these scam Emails purporting to be from Ebay about once a month. In the words of Ebay, "we will not ask you to change any of your details via Email". They will normally ask you to make any changes through their web pages. Another word of warning; there is a similar scam which gives a hyperlink to Ebay - DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!! It is a bogus hyperliink, taking you to a bogus Ebay site. Be on your guard; there is a similar scam Email purporting to come from PayPal. Best advice; delete any such Email the moment it arrives!! If anyone has made the mistake of giving their details on a scam Email, my advice is to change your password immediately via Ebay or PayPal. Gene
  14. From what I can remember, it was the Kentones (or Kentits?) - first played by Pat Brady at Stafford, circa-1985, covered up as "Now You've Got Me Baby" by Stanley Mitchell. Then played by Dave Thorley & Gary Spencer during the late '80s, and Roger Banks from then on. There are about 2 or 3 acetates, with no credits apart for the group name on at least one copy (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Roger's copy has a cutting room label, but absolutely no credits at all). Pat Brady's Audiodisc copy was sold in 1986 to collector Chris Jones from Harrow, who I believe paid about £200 for it - don't know if Chris has still got it, as I don't think he's been on the scene for a while now!! Incidentally, this copy is the one with the group name handwritten on the Audiodisc label. Gotta say, it's one of these instrumentals I have always loved, and no telling what I'd do for a copy (apart from prostituting myself!!!). Gene
  15. Hi JT, I'm afraid to say that irritating as it is, I think this is one of the "improvements" (sn*****!!) Ebay had proposed to the USA site. I noticed it yesterday, when my bookmark for R&B/Soul took me to their front page. From there, I had to search records firstly under the R&B genre, then Soul as a sub-heading. It is a pain in the jaxsy but, then again, I guess it's just a matter of adapting to change. Having said that, the "Northern Soul" search on the UK site remains unaffected (for what it's worth, if you don't mind the odd pressing or two!). Gene
  16. Not absolutely sure to be honest Steve - never seen one on sale before!! What do you think it should go for? Gene
  17. Thankfully, my wife understands me ("not bad for a fiver, eh luv"!!!!!) Gene
  18. Andy, Just traced the Chuck Bernard 45 you were after; "Funny Changes" on Satellite. Anglo American (Tim Brown) has one on his website, listed as the B-side "Every Hurt Makes You Stronger" for £40: https://www.raresoulvinyl.co.uk/catalogues....95&StartsWith=B Click on the hyperlink and search under Bernard, Chuck - best of luck mate! Gene
