Also heard of a release on BBE - is that right (possibly 12")? The Full Sail copies bear a striking resemblence to the "Candle" - Doni Burdick labels, I must say. Gene

Keep a look out for this one! It's the B-side of one of their better-known tracks, "Shake A Hand". Also released in the UK on Coral 72460 in 1963. Buy it now while it's still around £15 for the UK copy, and probably around £5 for the US copy!!! Credit to Mischief for flipping this side over.... Gene

Thanks Johnny 1T - £40?? Didn't realise it was still that sought after!! What's this Foundations track on Psycho (Change My Life) from 1978?? Anyone know it? Must be good, if it's commanding megabucks. Then there's "Ragtime Girl" by Jimmy Helms on Pye from 1973. Again, one I don't know much about, other than its high price tag (probably £60 - £80). Anyone shed some light on these two? Gene

Following on from my post on UK soul, where the topic of conversation turned to lucky finds in boot fairs and charity shops, it would be good to hear of some of your best and cheapest bargain finds, whether found during a rumage, or just heavily underpriced. LEONARD WHITING: That's What Mama Say (Pye Studios Acetate) 25p Sadly, I don't have any of these any more, as I stupidly sold them over the years!! Let's hear of your bargains.... Almost forgot how good "Where Is He" by Flama Sherman is - thanks for the reminder Hippo!!! Also worth mentioning the Chants' 1976 offering, "I've Been Trying" on small UK label Chipping Norton. Found 7 unplayed copies for 10p each in a boot market in 1997, sold them to JM for £70, and he sold them for £20 each - as I expected, and I think it's still the going rate!! Moral of the story - go through boxes of what seem to be crap 45s, in charity shops and boot fairs, thoroughly. You too could find a Frankie and Johnny issue on Decca buried amongst Des O'Connor and Jim Reeves - just like I did in 1987!! Should never have sold it for £30...... Gene

John, It is extremely hard to get hold of. The last copy of this I saw was in the late '80s, and was up for offers over £100. I don't recall seeing another for sale since then; either it's one of the genuine rarities, or those who have them are holding on to them. Not bad for a Mercury release from 1980! As far as I'm aware, it was never booted or re-issued. Probably best giving John Manship a call, in case he knows of any in the pipeline. Good luck in your search......... Gene
