  1. Too late - I've reported you. No one deserves that sort of unwarranted abuse.
  2. PS - you're not the same person (name witheld) who's "forgotten" to log in again, are you?
  3. Well Guest, whoever YOU are - and you obviously haven't got the guts to give your name, so your post means nothing!! As for your sad, abusive views, I'm pretty sure it's the only way you know how to communicate. If you think this site is in breach, why dont you tell us all why it's in breach? Oh, and don't forget to leave your name next time. As for your closing sentiment - mutual feelings!! Gene
  4. I wonder if it comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Ministry of Defence??? Gene
  5. I wondered what had happened to Paul Merrett!! Haven't seen him since about that time (1987). Good bloke - glad he's doing well. Gene
  6. I don't think so somehow............... https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=58650 Can't remember the parka brigade ever dancing to this one lol!! Gene
  7. Also heard of a release on BBE - is that right (possibly 12")? The Full Sail copies bear a striking resemblence to the "Candle" - Doni Burdick labels, I must say. Gene
  8. Keep a look out for this one! It's the B-side of one of their better-known tracks, "Shake A Hand". Also released in the UK on Coral 72460 in 1963. Buy it now while it's still around £15 for the UK copy, and probably around £5 for the US copy!!! Credit to Mischief for flipping this side over.... Gene
  9. Oops!!...........cocked up on year of release again!! Thanks for putting me right on 1976, Brian. Gene
  10. Thanks Johnny 1T - £40?? Didn't realise it was still that sought after!! What's this Foundations track on Psycho (Change My Life) from 1978?? Anyone know it? Must be good, if it's commanding megabucks. Then there's "Ragtime Girl" by Jimmy Helms on Pye from 1973. Again, one I don't know much about, other than its high price tag (probably £60 - £80). Anyone shed some light on these two? Gene
  11. Following on from my post on UK soul, where the topic of conversation turned to lucky finds in boot fairs and charity shops, it would be good to hear of some of your best and cheapest bargain finds, whether found during a rumage, or just heavily underpriced. Here's a few of mine from over the past 23 years: FRANKIE & JOHNNY: I'll Hold You (Decca ISSUE) 25p MARVIN GAYE: Stubborn Kind Of Fellow (Oriole) 20p CHUCK WOOD: Seven Days Too Long (Big T) 50p DANNY WHITE: Keep My Woman Home (US Atteru DEMO) 50p IKE & TINA TURNER: Dust My Broom (US Tangerine) 50p PAT WILLIAMS: Theme From Police Story (Capitol) 10p - which I sold on Ebay last year for £51!!! LEONARD WHITING: That's What Mama Say (Pye Studios Acetate) 25p Sadly, I don't have any of these any more, as I stupidly sold them over the years!! Let's hear of your bargains.... PS: I apologise for the mis-spelling of "Bargain" in the title - couldn't amend it! Gene
  12. Almost forgot how good "Where Is He" by Flama Sherman is - thanks for the reminder Hippo!!! Also worth mentioning the Chants' 1976 offering, "I've Been Trying" on small UK label Chipping Norton. Found 7 unplayed copies for 10p each in a boot market in 1997, sold them to JM for £70, and he sold them for £20 each - as I expected, and I think it's still the going rate!! Moral of the story - go through boxes of what seem to be crap 45s, in charity shops and boot fairs, thoroughly. You too could find a Frankie and Johnny issue on Decca buried amongst Des O'Connor and Jim Reeves - just like I did in 1987!! Should never have sold it for £30...... Gene
  13. John, It is extremely hard to get hold of. The last copy of this I saw was in the late '80s, and was up for offers over £100. I don't recall seeing another for sale since then; either it's one of the genuine rarities, or those who have them are holding on to them. Not bad for a Mercury release from 1980! As far as I'm aware, it was never booted or re-issued. Probably best giving John Manship a call, in case he knows of any in the pipeline. Good luck in your search......... Gene
  14. Good thing it wasn't a "Soul Happening In Town"!!
  15. Hi Supercorsa, Sorry, the ARSE pun was not meant to imply that the promoter had anything to do with the SOS boots; just my flippant play on words!!! But I do remember the leaflets. The RSE in ARSE stood for something like "Rare Soul Experience" or something like that, and I remember being quite amused by it at the time! Gene
  16. Bloody hell Hippo!! Love the pics............well neat! Gene
  17. Many a true word spoken Deanne!!
  18. Johnny, for a pint of Guinness at Soul In the City, the opportunity's there for ya mate!!
  19. Mark, What, as a matter of interest, is the current asking price? Not that anyone who has it would want to sell it!! Gene
  20. Hehehehe!!! You needed an opportunity??????????
  21. Ya cheeky tyke Mikey!!! That was taken last year for my passport!!! I've got much less hair now than I had in 1982. May even treat you to a soul photo of me on here, if I can dig one out!!! Didn't she meet me at SITC last time? Gene
  22. Donk, Are you sure you're not thinking of "Soul Sounds"? Vickie Baines was released on Soul Sounds in the late '70s, as was "I Don't Like To Lose" by The Group. Gene
  23. Very nice she is too Johnny - you lucky person Mikey!!!! Gene

Pity it's only the 7" you're after Phil - I could have sold you my 12" on Big Apple for £10 if you wanted it. Post here if you're keen, anyway!! Did it actually come out on 7"? I'm not really sure, as I don't remember seeing any when the batch of 12"s arrived in 1984. Gene
  25. Mine too!! "Arse" no questions, tell no lies!!!
