  1. Probably more like "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"! Have to say, I did pester my mum to buy me Footsee on its release (she gave me the 50p to buy it) - but then, I was only 10 years old!
  2. The Magnetics 45 is out-and-out doo-wop, so anyone looking to unearth another soul gem by them may be a little disppointed. Lillian Dorr's "Let's Have A Dance" is a nice Soul track which, I think, goes for around the £100 - £150 mark. The label's releases all date from 1962. Gene
  3. Love is in the air!!!
  4. No probs Ted - if you PM me your Email addy, I'll get them done and sent to you later tonite. All the best, Gene
  5. Ted - if you can think of the other one, let me know and I'll get them up in the Gallery later tonite (or send you MP3s if you prefer). It wasn't their version of "I'll Never Forget You", was it.......? BTW, here's a bit of useless trivia. "Till The End Of Time" was first recorded in 1945, by Perry Como!
  6. Had a bit of an LP night yesterday - here's what was played in the comfort of my own home! All are LP tracks: JOHNNY WATSON: Takin' No Chances (Okeh) SUPREMES: Shake Me, Wake Me (UK MFP Sounds Superb) THE TOYS: What's Wrong With Me Baby (Dynovoice) THE METROS: Till The End Of Time (RCA) THE TEMPESTS: I Cried For You (Smash) OTIS REDDING: Security (UK Atlantic) SPOONERS CROWD: Two In The Morning (UK Marble Arch) WILSON PICKETT: Baby Don't You Weep (UK Marble Arch) RAY CHARLES: All Night Long (Conquest) JAMES CARR: Coming Back To Me Baby (Goldwax) BOBBY BLAND: Shoes (Duke) DALE HAWKINS: Suzie-Q (UK Chess) ....then had a bit of a non-Northern UK 45s session!........ MAXIMILIAN: The Snake (London) DR FEELGOOD & THE INTERNS: Mister Moonlight (Columbia) THE IMPRESSIONS: It's All Right (HMV) LITTLE MAC: You Can't Love Me In The Midnight Hour (Atlantic) BARBARA GEORGE: I Know (You Don't Want Me No More) (London) THE MAJORS: She's A Troublemaker (London) THE CLOVERS: Love Potion No. 9 (London) CASSIUS CLAY: Stand By Me (CBS) and then went to bed on a happy note!! Gene
  7. Bought my gold label original at Cheapo Cheapo's record stall in Berwick Street market, Soho, in 1984 for a £1! Sold it to a mate a few months later and made a profit margin of £4! That would have been the right price then. Oh God, if i knew then what I knew now!
  8. Let me know when you do, and If your shagged one's up for sale!! BTW, thanx for putting me right on 39-21-46!! Gene
  9. Just how many times has this been said of reissues that eventually flood the rare soul market??????? Is this also meant to imply that the remaining 225 copies are being distributed within the USA? Call me cynical, but been there, heard that, and I don't think so..........
  10. It's a pity that the original B-side wasn't kept on the reissue. It's a blinding version of the Showmen's 39-21-26 (whatever it's called), and is like "A Secret Of Mine" without the bass line. Best to still look for the original on Groove for an excellet double-header.
  11. And your point is Kenneth?
  12. Wouldn't "clique" be more than appropriate?
  13. Likewise, I have always loved instrumentals, and it's records like these that keep me dancing: THE CHAUMONTS: Now You've Gone FRANK FOSTER: Harlem Rumble MIKE VICKERS: On The Brink THE KONTETS: Now You've Got Me Baby (c/u) - unissued DONTEE STUDIO BAND - Alone With No Love CHECKERBOARD SQUARES: Double Cookin' PANIC BUTTONS: Come Out Smokin' GEORGE KERR ORCHESTRA: Love On A Rampage DETROIT LAND APPLES: I Need Help THEO-COFF INVASION: Lucky Day PETER HAMILTON GENERATION: Hey Girl .....of course, there are a few instrumentals that I just can't stand! Amongst them are: PAL & THE PROPHETS: Peace Pipe AL FOSTER BAND: Night Of The Wolf BALTIMORE & OHIO MARCHING BAND: Condition Bad MISTURA: The Flasher BILLY BUTLER: Right Track (instr). More when I think of them.......
  14. Probably implies that the recod is worn with a bad hiss, hence the reason for playing it with a 78 stylus. A 78 stylus does drown out hisses, even on vinyl. Mind you, I've bought from Nathan on numerous occasions and found his gradings to be honest. He's one of these characters with a good personality, and a distinctive sign-off to all correspondence: "Have a blessed day, in Jesus's name!"
  15. HIGH KEYS - I've seen the yellow demos going for about £150 -£175.
  16. "Second issue" - though make what you will of that euphemism! Oops - sorry! Am I being sinikal, or just illiterate??
  17. Good man that you are Mike - so what did you to get blacklisted from trading?
  18. Sorry Rich, but as much as it is a tempting idea, it's not a very good move in the light of the situation. If the seller is vindictive enough, he could use the above as evidence to threaten auction sabotage, which is a suspendable offence on Ebay.
  19. I love these!! Really interesting to note on the chart for the week ending 28 Aug 1967, that FIVE official A-sides of Northern dancers made their way into the chart: THE UNITED FOUR: Go On (A-side to "She's Putting You On") No. 13 THE FIVE STAIRSTEPS: The Touch Of You (A-side to "Change Of Pace") No. 20 SYL JOHNSON: Come On Sock It To Me (A-side to "Try Me") No. 24 HAROLD MELVIN: Go Away (A-side to "What Can A Man Do") No. 26 MIKE & THE CENSATIONS: Nothing I Can Do (A-side to "Don't Mess With Me") No. 30 Would love to see more of these..........

    El Corols

Hi Determined, It's actually "Chick Chick/You Gotta Be An Angel" by The El Corols on Rouser. Not completely sure on price, but I guess around the £75-£100 mark at the moment.
  21. Sorry Paul - forgot it was you for a minute!! Gene
  22. I've bought from Ashley Weaver in the past with no problem, and have always found his grading to be spot on, so this comes as a surprise. he wasn't using that Ebay ID at the time though.
  23. Thanx for helping clear that up Steve!! (no, not another freudian pun!). Actually, it's just been clarified that whilst this is now known not to be the same Kim Cattrall, she too had a "singing career (that is, if you can count "aah-aah-aah-ooohhh" from various S&TC episodes, or "owwwwwwwwwww" from Porkys!).
  24. Well now that I have your undivided attention after mention of the word SEX........!!!!
  25. May be a silly question, but there's no chance of this person being the same Kim Catrall (sic) from Sex & The City is there? Did she have a singing "career"? She'd actually be old enough to have recorded something like this SOURCE: JOHN MANSHIP'S RAREST OF THE RARE
