  1. Think you were right first time Pete! Only they weren't the first to do so.............just listen to "I Lost A True Love" by Danny Wagner!
  2. Hi Russ, Well, "Lucky Me" is a fast out and out Northern dancer (in the same tempo as William Cummings) which, I'm led to believe, got played at Stafford. Whether the flip side is a funk record I'm not too sure, as it's ages since I played it at home. I'll give it a listen and let you know on here. Apparently, both the Jay Griffin and William Cummings tracks date from 1969.

That must make the original version by Mr Bloe worth at least £200!
  4. "I'm Losin' Your Love" by them on the same label is 100 times better Annie! In my current Top 10 playlist at the mo!

Yep - sure do Dan! But I think one went on Ebay for around that much in $ recently, if I'm not mistaken.....
  6. For those who can't find the William Cummings, then "Lucky Me" by Jay Griffin on Now, which came from the same stable as the Bang-Bang label, should make do! Sells for about a tenth of the price. Will try to post up a sound clip in time. The Bang-Bang label design is exactly the same, except for being a dark purple label with silver lettering:

Actually, those prices come as no surprise to me, as I think it's quite reflective of the rarity of the records listed above. But just how many copies of Margaret Little have actually surfaced? I always believed there was perhaps just 1 or 2.

No - hang on. They're two different tracks, aren't they? The Soul Generation, I thought, was the Grapevine release of "Hold On" by The Generation, on US Mockingbird, which is a cover of the O'Jays track.
  9. Hi Mike! I remember Keb playing it around 1984. Not sure if Gary Rushbrooke also played it though. Gene

And will any BLEEP royalties be paid to either Mr BLEEP Clarke, or Chess BLEEP records? I BLEEP think not....................... (oops sorry, wrong record for all the BLEEPs! I hate that Pussycat Dolls track with a vengeance!)
  11. Most of the sexual depravation lyrics came from the 50s: Big Ten Inch Record - Bullmoose Jackson I Want A Bowlegged Woman - Bullmoose Jackson Poontang - The Treniers Work With Me Annie - Hank Ballard Toy Bell - The Bees ("When i play with my ding-a-ling") Roll With Me Henry - Etta James Ride Helen Ride - artist unknown Not forgetting that "Shake Rattle & Roll" had some of its lyrics rewritten, but one was mistakenly left in for Bill Haley - and it still gets played! Can't mention it here, but listen to the first line after the instrumental break!
  12. Remember a single by The Monks called "I Ain't Gettin' Any"...... .....oh, sorry - I thought it said sexual DEPRIVATION!!
  13. The Wind Kept Laughing???
  14. Never bought from him before, but his feedback looks promising. I also note that he has found a large unplayed shop stock from a Chicago shop, all from around the late '60s/early '70s and, as he says, this is one of the pile. I have seen other bits he's had for sale over the past few months - a mixture of top drawer and run-of-the-mill items, but the important thing is that they're all unplayed. Sure the 45 looks kosher - the ZTSC stamp is in the correct typeface, so no questioning its authenticity there! I would say bid with confidence - there's everything to suggest his reliability.

Hi Dawn, To this day, it's remained unreleased. Not sure about sale price, as it's probably a one or two-off, and don't know who currently owns it/them. If my memory serves me well, I think Gillie played this covered up as Diana Ross, or another fem Motown artist. Gene

"My Baby Loves Me" on General American is another of their early releases worth finding, if you're keen on mid-tempo soul. It's the flip side of their 1964 release "Find Another Love"

Heatwave - Martha & The Vandellas Snow - Tina Robins I'd Think it Over (Windy Rainy Edit) - Sam Fletcher There's also artists and groups: Billy Storm Bad Weather Lord Thunder Wind Sunny and the Sunliners "Gail" Anderson (sorry!) Larry "Hale" (and again!)

What about Cillit Bang? Now there's a thought.............
  19. Yep - 46 years ago, and it's still hard to believe.......
  20. Don't have a sound clip I'm afraid - sold mine last year! But it's an excellent double-sider. "You Should Have Told Me" is, in my opinion, the better side. BTW - check Kirsty's post in Sales- she has one on Ebay at the mo.

Spooky! I've just posted up about this in Freebasing!
  22. Just sent you a PM Andy.
  23. Have to say, it does look the biz tho........
  24. I'd say a realistic quote would be around £250 - £300.
