  1. "i...i want....i want you..........i want you to...........i want you to please! want you to be my baby"! "I Want You To Be My Baby" Billie Davis (UK Decca) £5 Originally recorded by Ellie Greenwich*, but don't know anything about 45 releases for this. * = no it wasn't! See my next post below.............
  2. Was covered up by Keb Darge as Steve Mancha around 1986. I would safely guess that around £800 is the right price for it these days.
  3. Decca/RCA/London etc, did this as normal practice with their demos from 1955 - 1960. The reason for this was so that a radio DJ could play the B-side immediately after the A-side during one of their shows.
  4. The Advision acetate is British - not sure about the artist singing on it though. The track got a US release on MGM by Bruce Scott. Having not heard this version yet, I wonder if they're one and the same? Ideas, anyone?
  5. Without A Doubt - The Lovers (Frantic) Why, you may ask, does it bring a tear to my eye?..... ...COS I WISH I'D NEVER SOLD IT FOR £60!
  6. Quite right Stuart - totally agree! And anyway who is this DJ xxxx? Forget the stupid chav-type name, I've never bloody 'eard of him!
  7. Their first release in the UK was "You're So Fine/Goddess of Angels" on London - the A-side of which is another very nice nid-tempo soul/R&B track from 1959. This line up for this apparently featured Joe Stubbs, Eddie Floyd, Lance Finnie, Willie Schofield and Bonny "Mack" Rice.
  8. ...think it was "Dr Goldrain and his bikini fetish........" ........or something like that
  9. My three Supremes faves of all time are: Nothing But Heartaches The Happening Come See About Me
  10. Sure will Geoff - I look forward to it mate!
  11. Precisely June 1964, Geoff! It even shares my birthday, give or take a few days!
  12. Picked up the Chairmen of the Board's "In Session" LP on UK Invictus at a boot fair over the Easter weekend for 30p - cover needed a bit of a clean, but the record was almost spotless!
  13. Here's the original list I put together for a post on here in April 2004, with a few extra additions. 14. Aaahhh, the beauty of older records - you can hear every word they sing!
  15. Frankie & Johnny - I'll Hold You (Decca) 30p (junk shop in Highgate, 1986) Jimmy James - This Heart Of Mine (Piccadilly) 50p (London market, 2002) Jimmy Ruffin - The Jimmy Ruffin Way (Tamla Motown MONO LP) 50p (boot fair in Suffolk, 2005)
  16. There's also a neat-looking red vinyl promo which has "Blackmail" on the flip side of "Oh I've Been Blessed" - can't be many of them around! Had mine for a few years now.
  17. Hi Martyn, Karl Evans was a legit release. I had one in the early '80s with the dark blue label/silver lettering, and the matrix design tied up with the Louise Lewis original. It was actually called "Oo Wee Let It Be Me Babe", and was the B-side to a slowie, "Honey On My Shoulder"
  18. Definitely Louise Lewis... Incidentally, Karl Evans was, as legend has it, a pseudonym for none other than Arin Demain!
  19. I reckon about £250 - if you count the fact it's a neat looking EP, and has a decent Babs Tino track on the other side.
  20. I've heard a copy of Helen Troy "I Think I Love You " on a Vinyl Carvers cut, with an "authentic" label scan, and the sound quality was absolute crap.
  21. No paypal? No bidpay? Of course he's a f***ing low-life conman.............. STEER CLEAR.
  22. WHAT IS IT?
  23. Anyone know what version of "Buttered Popcorn" was played throughout Tuesday's episode?
  24. Quite sad news. I was named after him, would you believe! Probably due to "24 Hours From Tulsa" being a big Top 10 hit at the time my mum was expecting me..... I had the pleasure of seeing the man at Lewisham Theatre in March 1983. Even by then, at the age of 42, he was completely grey. But he was still cutting the mustard, and sounding just as good as he did in his '60s hits. As Netspeaky says, "She's A Heartbreaker" was played on the scene at one point. It's the B-side of a 1968 release, "Yours Until Tomorrow". Rest in peace.
