  1. Great to see the modern room rocking again...has not been like that for five years , thank god it's back to how it should be , the dance floor full most of the night and a great atmosphere, also the layout is back to as it was .and just happy to see it buzzing in there again ! almost did not go this year due to how the room has been over the last 3 years ...missed Mark R's set(s) this year as no listing anywhere to be seen, sorry Mark.. a shame as Mark was always on the money and got a buzz going even when other left him little to work with, as they say class always shines through ...but hope it's not the last one as the modern/dance room is back on track! Great to see new faces in there, lets spread the word and get some of the old ones back and take the roof off ;-)
  2. if you want to promote a night of 60's soul and play with cd's then thats up to you , there are loads of soul & northern soul night on around the uk that use cd only, you just dont get many regular northern fans go to them...do what you want to do and if you make money for charity then bonus :-)

  7. This record was one of the turning points for me at Wigan in 1980 - I was amazed at the stuff Richard and Sam were playing when I went back up there after a break. Always loved this one - that kind of Prelude Lester / Brown type beat, and those vocals.........a record I never tire of.......can I play it when I come up to Cambridge in May David?
  8. Hi Dave how did they hack it not an easy thing to do all the best David
  9. bugger , missed your back drops at the Mallet .... Peter Rose always had trainers on, what a dancer that man was .... must have been looking his way when you pulled those swallow dives Russ just make sure your arm is in good form for the drinks in the early hours at pressed-hat-inn mate

  13. i also got caught for 87 fine once, and that was because customs opened the box and the ebay invoice was inside now i ask them to ship international tracked and signed for with no Insurance and to put used 45 on customs slip no value.... always get it becaused it's tracked...cost 26 us but worth it in the long run for buys over 150 us... plus if you do not pay the fees, it's not delivered and the new paypal rules are if it's not delivered you get a refund....proof of postage as a seller is no longer good enough, that's why i only send items over 36 uk pounds by special delivery, as i got hit for a 150 refund when a buyer said he did not get the item just after the rules changed. have to cover your arse on ebay all ways, sad but true
  14. ...have you got any rca 80's pop with them on Russ
  15. I was talking about this thread to Max Rees and he was the one that wondered if this was a black guy from Chicago. The reason being that he was in a shop called second hand tunes on the south side of Chicago in the 80's and a customer in there started up a conversation with Max .....he said he had a complete Motown collection , when questions on certain 45's he was super knowledgeable.... he knew all about the unusual one's and could not be caught out, Max questioned him on 45's like Debbie Dean, Patty Jerome and Barbara Mc Nair.... he knew all about them and even details like the catalogue numbers..... He said he had a Frank Wilson on soul, he knew all about it and his recall was very fast and he did not have to think about any answers, this guy was a motown nut. Max did not get his name but had a great conversation about black music with him. So if this guy has a complete Motown and associated label collection then there are more than 2 Frank Wilson's out there. Just thought I would post this information All the best David
