  3. All of the Moments and The Whatnauts 7,s are worth having, some of the best "Sweet Soul" examples of the time came out of New Jersey from these guys, then also from the same stable came The New Sounds awesome set, add to this Linda Jones output theres a lot of scope for genuine soul collectors. Kev

  5. Good call Nev, getting plenty of play in this household, see you next week mate Kev
  6. Great record, but the flip blows it out of the water IMHO Kev
  7. Its a very loosely used term I think Bearsy, but IMHO I think the sound which is hard to describe really comes from the period between about 1969 and 1973, like I said its just an opinion, example being Lee "Shot" Williams and his absolutely brilliant "It Ain,t Me" on UA, quite messy in production really. Kev
  8. At the Coachman in Darlington last Saturday, in amongst Enchanters, Steve Mancha (Friday Night), Accents, Jock Mitchell, Cashmeres etc, Temptations-I Know I,m Losing You was played, nobody moved from the dancefloor, to anyone or anything getting out of a Spaceship and not being aware of the so called politics would have been none the wiser as the Temps is more than a match for any of the aforementioned tunes and deserves its place in any Soul set, there are more examples, lets have them. Kev
  9. Thats correct Phil, he was an avid reader of the mag and Rod Dearlove, if I remember rightly had warned that the mag would cease to exist as it was to expensive to produce, on reading this Steve contacted Rod and contributed to future issues, which I must add were a must read and is greatly missed. Steve Davis also used to attend Thorne (Canal Tavern) where as a claim to fame I advised him to purchase a copy of the Visitors-My love is ready and waiting, telling him it would be the best £6 he would ever spend, £6 eh, the good old days Kev
  10. Great call Val, second that advice, theres no comparison IMHO. Kev

  12. Tough one, but bang on here," Still Water", "Where did you go" and "In these changing times" for me Kev
  13. Towanda and the Total Destruction "Wear your natural baby" is as far as it stretches Shep, after that forget it mate, in fact I think she looks at it with a bit of contempt, like she does my other great love Football, the amount of times she said "well why can,t you sell one of them records" my reply will always be the same though,"they were here before I met you, you,re out first", she is out at the moment so the bravado levels have raised. She has seen me jive a few times and was not very complimentary "Stiff arse" was the term used. Still, with that insult reverberating around my ears, the pull of the music is far too much for her to cause a stir, oh f--- She,s back, better get back to the gardeners world website. Kev

  18. Absolutely Sean, I think "Please take me back" is the clincher, and as you state with "How big is big" on t,other side, what a double sider, was Lee Jones with them Sean last year, was gutted when they did Prestatyn a couple of years ago and the top man was missing, although having said that they were still great but maybe a little bit of seeing the Temps without David Ruffin or Paul Williams type of feeling came over me. I asked one of the other members of the group where he was and I was told he was a truck driver now, tears you up when you here shite singers making fortunes and this amazing talent having to hit the road to make a living. Best Regards Sean Kev
  19. Cracker Brett. and you,ve just reminded me of one of the hundreds that should be included:- The Lee Jones lead Masqueraders-I,m an average guy. the flip to Aint gonna stop, absolutely incredible Kev
  20. Should have put Little Royal on my list Brett, and if you include that then you have to include Garland Green "Jealous Kinda Fella" Kev

  22. Second tape about 1992 including The Sweets-Something bout my baby Sandy Golden-When we,re all alone Alternative Professionals-Thats why I love you Tranells-I,m Blessed with a love (Philadelphians) and loads of other tremendous things (can,t get it back off Gaz Simon) including a tremendous crossover thing called I think "Baby don,t you do it" I have lost the listing but I think it was another unissued thing like the Limelights. I think there was some debate about it a while back but does anyone know what happened to it, would sound magnificent played out nowadays. Kev
