  1. Yes, Pat did a marvellous job, us lads from the North East were regulars, like you say great venue with no pressure on the DJ,s which consequently lead to some great nights, the all-dayers were brill aswell. Kev

  3. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!
  4. Here, here Andy, but how intimidated must that group who followed her have been, the voice and the delivery were there for all to see and here, and then the genuine rapturous applause, and she was only getting warmed up, they must have thought how the fook to we follow that. Kev
  5. Just seen it Dean, no not been in one of her restaurants, but I can waffle for England anyway, absolute pro, Jools put her on the spot, collected herself, then delivered to send shivers down the spine, one word, AWESOME, and that isn,t a nostalgic reaction, just the plain as you see it truth. Kev
  6. Bang on the money G Man, thanks for posting it, this is an awesome, and I don,t use the term lightly record, top drawer from a top drawer artist. Kev
  7. Now traded, big thanks to all who showed intetrest. Best Regards Kev
  8. Any room in the hole Tim, Ruffins the man but a prime time Bobby Womack disputes the title, different this one, but listen to Smokey on a lot of his not so well known stuff "Baby Baby don,t cry" for example, the man is a genius, oh so soulful, Lee Jones from the Masqueraders, the late George Smith from the Manhattans, be back when I think of or play some more. Keep in touch mate Kev
  9. I salute your taste garethx, right up my street Kev
  10. And while we are on the subject, absolute awesome record, been pushed at the more progressive nights in the NE over the last 20 years or so Kev
  11. Of course you already know that young lady, and I know you are working your ticket, clip round the lug next time I see ya x Kev
  12. Bobby Womack on "How could you break my heart" aint half bad and Wilson Picket on a great ballad called "I,ve come a long way" is also absolutely chilling, might post it up. Kev
  13. Hiya Bearsy, nothing specific, possibly leaning to the crossover type of thing, but would consider anything nice. Kev
  14. Recently had a Rocky Gil and the Bishops-Its not the end-Tear Drop Demo M- for sale at £450 which I think is cheaper than the rate, lot of interest but nobody stumped up the amount, not prepared to drop price so will trade or sell, anyone interested and has summat nice to trade please PM me Kev
  15. Tymes-The Crutch-RCA Artist: Tymes Title: The Crutch Label: RCA Posted info: A big ask given that a massive percentage of soul records are about heartbreak and the concept is about feeling, this is one though, "Its 3 oclock in the morning, I,m so dead on my feet" cheers AndyKev
  16. Dylan and John spot on with Masqueraders "Please take me back", along with "I,m just an average guy" must be their finest hour IMHO, anyone with The Exportations "I want you" on Vir-ro, once you,ve flipped it and heard "Find another day" surely "I want you" fades into insignificance such is the brilliance of the flip, as a matter of interest, anyone playing "Find another day" out at venues ? Kev
  17. You know you have you cheeky devil, hows it going? Kev
  18. Had this up a couple of weeks ago, still for sale or nice trade Rocky Gil and the Bishops-Its not the end-Tear Drop Demo Mint- £450 PM If interested, I will take care of UK Postage Kev
  19. All of the Moments and The Whatnauts 7,s are worth having, some of the best "Sweet Soul" examples of the time came out of New Jersey from these guys, then also from the same stable came The New Sounds awesome set, add to this Linda Jones output theres a lot of scope for genuine soul collectors. Kev
  20. FOR SALE Near mint copy:- Rocky Gil and the Bishops-Its not the end-Tear Drop demo £450 Kev
  21. Good call Nev, getting plenty of play in this household, see you next week mate Kev
  22. Great record, but the flip blows it out of the water IMHO Kev
  23. Its a very loosely used term I think Bearsy, but IMHO I think the sound which is hard to describe really comes from the period between about 1969 and 1973, like I said its just an opinion, example being Lee "Shot" Williams and his absolutely brilliant "It Ain,t Me" on UA, quite messy in production really. Kev
  24. At the Coachman in Darlington last Saturday, in amongst Enchanters, Steve Mancha (Friday Night), Accents, Jock Mitchell, Cashmeres etc, Temptations-I Know I,m Losing You was played, nobody moved from the dancefloor, to anyone or anything getting out of a Spaceship and not being aware of the so called politics would have been none the wiser as the Temps is more than a match for any of the aforementioned tunes and deserves its place in any Soul set, there are more examples, lets have them. Kev
  25. Thats correct Phil, he was an avid reader of the mag and Rod Dearlove, if I remember rightly had warned that the mag would cease to exist as it was to expensive to produce, on reading this Steve contacted Rod and contributed to future issues, which I must add were a must read and is greatly missed. Steve Davis also used to attend Thorne (Canal Tavern) where as a claim to fame I advised him to purchase a copy of the Visitors-My love is ready and waiting, telling him it would be the best £6 he would ever spend, £6 eh, the good old days Kev
