    Howard Tate RIP

Hi Steve Thanks for posting it up. Just been spinning it in the all new record room, been up and running for a week or so, pop out for meals and work wife not happy at all. Losing Howard Tate and J Blackfoot and off topic Gary Speed, it seems to be all gloom and doom, but lets remember the entertainment all 3 gave us. Kev
  8. One of those artists that came under the "achingly soulfull" banner for me. "Whats Happening", "Midnight Sunshine" "Taxi" "Sidewalk", and as Jock mentioned "Poem on the schoolhouse wall" are examples that rival anything you can mention, the man was that good, in an age where they pass off practically middle of the road singers as soul singers we can hardly afford to lose the likes of J Blackfoot and Howard Tate. R.I.P. both of them Kev

    Howard Tate RIP

Sad news indeed, just got the record room up and running after being flooded (8 months without soulfull vinyl, not recommended) so just dug out "These are the things" on Turntable, inded, what a talent. R.I.P. Howard Tate Kev
  10. What a record, what a price Kev
  11. Totally gutted by this, really nice guy, joy to be around, thoughts are with Karen and all his family now. God bless you Ted Kev
  12. PM,d you Henry Best Regards Kev
  13. James Brown was the self professed "Number 1 Soul Brother" and if you listen to his not so well known stuff you can see why, forget about "Sex Machine" and "Get up offa that thing" and the likes and dig a little deeper for the real stuff, the man is achingly soulful, Tomo from Middlesboro knocked a CD up for me a few months ago of his not so well known stuff (only a few I had heard) and it hasn,t been off the player since. I am not knocking the disco stuff, it was a milestone in Soul Music, but as I said, dig deeper and listen to "Soul Brother Number One" Kev
  14. Worth a spin next Saturday Sean Kev
  15. Read somewhere that they were his favourite group at Motown, I think he used C.P. Spencer as backing on the "Lets get it on" set, For those who love "The Bells" flip it over to the ultra soulful "I,ll Wait For You", there is the extended intro take of the same song on the "Portrait" set which is also wonderful. Great group. Kev
  16. Absolutely, both sides great, "Boys" just gets it for me, and nice to see it getting its day in the sun, BTW, any one reckon it could be him leading on "Boys" Kev
  17. Here, here a masterpeice Kev
  18. Theres recently been a CD swap on here organised by Pat Biggerstaff, Samantha was involved and put Bernard Drake in her contribution, no wonder you are after a copy, totally brilliant, caused quite a stir among the other participants so I reckon you have a lot of competition in your quest. Kev
  19. Now then Kirsty, how art thou, absolutely wangle a pass, will be a great day x
  20. Defo a squad from Aycliffe coming down on the 16th October, booking train tickets this weekend, we will be there from the start and leaving at the end, really looking forward to it, lot of people recommending it, but the playlists speak for them self. Anybody speaking to Paul Stead please let him know we are coming down as I don,t know who he goes on as on here. Kev
  21. Hi Mo, If you can add drink to the criteria, then its got to be paradise x Kev
  22. Always like looking at these playlists lads, I believe there is another chillout in October, what is the actual date, good chance there will be a crew from Aycliffe jumping on the train for it, great stuff. Kev
  23. Thanks Steve, Mike and Pat, one of the best feelings when the post arrives with CD,s containing the music of the gods. Been round today Steve and they have told us August 1st back in. Kev
