  1. Hi Chalky, myself and Gaz Simon visited Martin in 1989 and he played us it then so I think maybes it was discovered well before 1991 Regards Kev
  2. Sold this a couple of years ago Aid, big mistake Kev
  3. Brilliant set Steve, with everyone else here, the Spice track is incredible, Harold Tyler outstanding aswell Kev
  4. Both of the albums he did on Atlantic are essential in my opinion, not a bad track on either, "Jealousy" is incredible. Great artist, sad news Kev

  6. Never a member Kegsy, but they mention him as a huge influence Kev
  7. From the brilliant "B Movie" Aid, checkout the live version on Youtube, I had it on video for years when it was part of a documentary they showed on him in the mid 80,s BTW he calls him Ronald the Ray gun, fooking brilliant, and the lead up rap to the actual song is brilliant and so true Kev
  8. Hi Brett, two LP versions I know of Gypsy Woman LP 1967 which is different but still great to my fave version which was from the Riot LP in 1968 Best Kev
  9. Same as Unlimited Four "True Love Is Hard To Find" on Chanson Dave, tell me where and how you can pick that up for £20 Kev
  10. "The hardest working man in show business" wasn't a throw away gimmick, he was IMHO, probably of no interest to the rare buffs, but this man made some of the greatest soul records ever, if you listen to some of his stuff, and theres lots, away from his hits, and most of them are grea anyway, he did some incredible stuff that stands alongside anyone you care to mention, mentioned this before, I was already a fully subscribed admirer, but Tomo (Alant) sent me a CD a while ago with a load of his not so well known stuff (and some semi known "Lost someone" for example) absolute stirring stuff, ballads, mid-tempo shufflers, you name it. Doesn't get enough credit on here Kev
  11. No Krissi, there are plenty of venues all over the country who demand OVO but invite collectors to spin THEIR OWN tunes, I touched on the scenario earlier where Bertie Big Cheque Book appears from nowhere waving his money at anything deemed big ticket, gets himself (or herself) a clutch of so called biggies and thinks they,ve arrived, the phone doesn,t ring, so they end up selling up, Krissi, the decent people on the scene see through all this, and in most cases quality rather than rarity gains the respect, I know where you are coming from though, you,re scenario exists among the fickle, but IMHO and experience, genuine people see through and don,t tolerate the bluff Kev
  12. You talking about the "5 minute wonders" Len, who come along every now and then waving a cheque book at anything remotely considered a trophy record, paying top dollar, and then selling up as soon as they realise you can't buy respect on this scene, with you mate if thats your point Kev
  13. Cheers John, knew there was summat i should know, but, its a legit release, so it must count Kev
  14. Aye Steve George Smith, always mention him in all time top vocalists along with Lee Jones from the Masqueraders Hope you are well mate Kev

Flip side on Bessie Banks is an absolute Deep Soul stunner Kev
  22. Anyway Krissi, less of the chit chat, get yourself to The Horse and Groom this Sunday afternoon, myself and a couple of my mates are DJing won't hear any oldies but its a bloody great afternoon Kev
  23. Hi Krissi, correct, well there is a bit of a one near the decks, but as Cunnie states and further to emphasise the point, a lot of people, myself included go to venues and listen, a lot of collectors are getting up there now rather than DJ's and playing great under played or never played gems that have been overlooked by the so called big DJ's down the years cos they ain't rare enough, in the days of Refo Soul on here, it was an absolute goldmine listening to records that were posted up by collectors. Kev
