  1. Check out the brilliant "I,ve Gotta Find a way" Parts 1 and 2 on Curtom records, personally prefer this to the brilliant "I,ll pay the price" Curtom release is by the Texas Town Display Kev
  2. Great listening lads, thats got to be t,other side on Special Agent (Syl Johnson) brilliant, and other side of "Shake off that dream" Eddie Billups, particular faves in a great set Kev
  3. Interested, I think you already know the answer to that, right up my street, always said a lot of the time early spots can be awesome when there is supposedly no pressure to get a dancefloor moving, best stuff in my opinion Kev
  4. Same as Jordi, wish I could walk into my local aswell and hear this, part 2 shades it for me, superb Kev
  5. Marvin Gaye "Whats Going On" followed shortly afterwards, borrowed it permanently from a mates sister Kev
  6. Yes Boba, lucky enough to have one, and yes its very good Kev
  7. The playlists tell you everything you need to know, another fantastic day, when you hear a record such as Debbie Taylor-I Don,t Wanna Leave You (brilliant Steve) which is a Deep Soul masterpiece played out, it tells you about the taste in music these lads have, no hang ups, just great genuine soul music, place was absolutely heaving, speaking for the NE lads here, we love the place Kev
  8. Once again, essential listening for the soul lover, Chocolate Buttermilk, Hiram and Direct, Contagious, RDM Band, Vareeations and Soul Ambassadors deserve special mention but the real pay off track was The Olympics-Baby I,m Yours, one word, awesome, the finale is not of this earth, best of a fantastic bunch for me Kev
  9. Enjoyed it aswell Toad, but was gutted when we found out Lee Jones wasn,t leading them, got talking to group later who informed us he was now a truck driver, makes your blood boil now when you think of all that shite on X Factor etc Kev
  10. Stax Golden Hour-Isaac Hayes, still play it today, brilliant Kev
  11. Absolutely brilliant Dave, loved every second of it Kev
  12. Add Larry Sanders to that and Ohio Players. Kev
  13. Keep on buying Col, but save enough dosh for April 13th Kev
  14. Just got the following Entertainers-Po Boy-Ovide (should have had this years ago when I first heard it, incredible reord, essential in fact) Naturals-Color Him Father/Crystal Blue Persuasions-Shout (2 great versions) Kev
  15. Absolutely gutted to have missed this, had planned to go but had to cancel, was there a good turn out ?, had the honour of DJing there last November on there Soul on Sunday, great club, the owner Warren has a fantastic vision for a City Centre Soul club and is definitely putting his money where his love and belief is (soul music) Kev
  16. Quite right, I can,t imagine life without Sam Dees "Show must go on" Jimmy Lewis "Totally involved" Don Covay "Super Dude" countless Womack and Dells albums, Marvin Gaye "Whats going on" I could go on all night Kev
  17. Incredible selection of soul music, Eddie Holloway and Whole Darn Family mindblowing Kev
  18. Yes it is, note titles, "7" is "People Wake Up And Live", album is "People Wake Up And Give Yourself A Chance" lyrics are different and LP percussion is more profound Kev
  19. Flip to "Showplace" "Thats how it is" is incredible, hope you,ve turned it over, great doubler, cheap aswell Kev
  20. The remote was invented or commisioned up here in about 2002, thats when we got swamped up here in the NE by the nostalgia brigade, and the rest as they say is history. Kev
  21. Yeah Chalky, Mexborough ran through 1988, possibly mid 87 not sure, so Jesse wouldn,t have been uncovered then. Didn,t realise that he had had Just Bros all that time though Kev
  22. Hi Chalky Remember the 1st time us lads from the NE heard Butch play it, Guy,s Mexborough, wow, was the reaction, same spot included Chuck Jackson "Whats with this loneliness" and covered up as the Arcades "Are you gonna leave me" (Jesse James of course) you would be hard pushed to hear 3 better or more soulfull records anywhere, but that was par for the course then, Mexborough, fantastic days Kev
  23. Here, here, and thoroughly agree with Jocks last contribution, still refer to late 80,s and early 90,s as "back in the day" cos they were the daysfor all the reasons you and Jock mention Kev
  24. Don,t agree with Skullsnaps Dave, brilliant black record made for black people unlike some of the tailor made pop shit that has been rightly mentioned on this thread Kev
  25. The Saints "Love can be" big favourite in this house Greg, defo the side for me even though the other side is generally listed on the rare occasions it comes up Kev
