  1. Soulful Twins is good, but Magnetics harmonies and delivery take the thing to another level that very few records get to, Group Soul perfection IMHO Kev

  6. Yes Dave, know this aswell, my mate Gaz Simon put 4 of the tracks on tape for me years ago "Peace of mind" was one of em, quality again, remember Boba telling me they were from The Cabrini Green projects which looked more like a war zone when I saw a documentary about it years ago, remember thinking, if you can survive that, you can survive "The Nam" Kev
  7. I know we covered this just recently, but the 2 Vietnam ballads are the killers for me "He'll be back" and "Im so glad you waited" are sublime Kev
  8. Way to go Brian, if you are going to channel your energies in another direction can't think of a better option, its a bottomless pit, and judging by your efforts in the CD swaps, you've a great head start anyway Kev
  9. Incredible, better than George Scott IMHO, and that is saying something, immense double sider ? oh yes Kev
  10. "Why is it taking so long" sounds great on the podcast Steve, If "Let the past" is anywhere near as good as George Scott, then thats some double sider Kev

  20. Aretha, Shirley Brown, Laura Lee, Gladys Knight, Linda Jones, she's up there for me with the other legends I have mentioned Kev
  21. Sorry, but if someone says they love soul, then says they don,t like Linda Jones, then I am out of any further conversation Kev
  22. Didn,t know the Kim Tolliver Dave, wow, shades of Laura Lee, "Guess who I saw today" or the full length "Since I fell for you" made my day mate, the Lady Margo is another gem that you put on a CD, not that technical myself, but hearing them 2 belters has given me the urge to listen to The New Births album version of "Wildflower" Cheers Dave Kev
  23. Place him in the same bracket as Steve Mancha, Melvin Davis and JJ Barnes Liam. Love every single one of em. Difficult to answer the question, in a hypothetical situation you can only base an opinion around similar artists and how they turned out. Using the examples I have, you would have to say he would have struggled to make a good living out of a recording career as the others did struggle. These guys are our heroes, but, we are not in the majority, and as a result wouldn,t be able to create a demand for the promotion from the record companies that would ensure there was a feasible market to sell their brilliant (to us) talents. Its sad, but its the reality, we hear our favourite artists singing, and they stir up feelings that are incredible, then we have to listen to the drivel that is served up today and watch Simon Cowell et al giving the thumbs up or down to the collection of Karaoke wannabees that are deemed the stars of tomorrow, at that, think I'll nip off to play "Beautiful Feeling" and wind myself up even more Kev
  24. Grab the Harold Tyler at that price someone, been under the radar too long, won't be that price forever, great record Kev
