  1. Never heard this before, knocked me for 6, like Ruffin, so soulful, both their lives ended tragically early, when you hear them sing their inner torment is there for all to hear, such is the music we love, it seems, the more tormented, the better the singer Kev
  2. 2 for 1 here, flip is great Deep, "Sweet loving woman", great double hitter Kev
  3. Intro to Jackey Beavers-A love that will never grows old-Revilot is awesome, in fact the whole backing track is spine tingling, certainly my love for it will never grow old, I love Steve Mancha-Friday Night and Monday thru Thursday which is the same but theres just something else that I can't describe about the Jackey Beavers recording Kev
  4. had me going for a while there Paul, but in the case that you do hear someone, contact me pronto Hope you are well mate Kev
  5. David Ruffin, after Womack my favourite singer, awesome !! Kev
  6. Probably some truth in that Sweeney, but, Angel Doll and Forever In My Heart by the Temps to my mind are incredible bits of Soul music, nothing to do with rarity as far as myself concerned, Smokey Robinson-Whatever makes you happy rightly seems to be getting venue play, £10 record, Edwin Starr-Running back and forth Fantastic Four-Pinpoint it down/Feel like I,m falling in love again, two more examples of cheap Motown records getting venue spins, but some great points in there Kev
  7. Creations-Say say baby Kev
  8. Another beauty Franc, Mr Kitchener put this on his contribution to a Group Soul CD swap a couple of years ago, brilliant stuff Kev
  9. Album only, fantastic record on the great "Soul Superman" set Kev
  10. Young Brothers, "Baby" better than the flip IMHO Kev
  11. Great price on the Skullsnaps, fantastic record Kev
  12. Played it last night Brian, had a bit of an all-niter, body clock still thought I was at work after nites. Yes, another fantastic example Kev
  13. Been on nightshift last 2 nights, so just got round to listening to this fantastic show while browsing on here, talking to Jim Ohara, and we agreed , if you want to listen to the real stuff theres a well that you can pull from that will never dry, and this guy proves the point, week after week after week he puts on a show that just makes compiling a wants list ridiculous, such is the volume of incredible soul music he has churned out for us to listen to, great record to round off with, Joe Brown, just like to say, there's another great version of "What am I waiting for" by the Ojay's on the "Survival" set. Great stuff Boba, and thanks for sharing it Kev
  14. Way to go Jim, its a bottomless pit aswell, we will never ever dry the well, hear something every week with the help of the great soul fans on here Best Regards Kev
  15. Now thats out of the way and happily sorted, lets get everyone a Truth "Come back home" on Sounds of Cleveland, the amount of times I have come in pissed off with the music at a venue, then put the likes of Village Choir, New Birth-Wildflower (LP version) and Truth on the turntable to rekindle my belief that the world aint that bad, is quite alarming, dig it out if you've got it, hunt it down if you ain't got it Kev
  16. Soulful Twins is good, but Magnetics harmonies and delivery take the thing to another level that very few records get to, Group Soul perfection IMHO Kev
  17. Wow !! Torture reading that when we couldn't be there, fantastic cross section of all that is soulful again boys, train tickets already in the bag for June Kev
  18. Recently Devilles-One more time-Rina Peter and the Wolfs-My heart is true-Bridge Society Mixed Sugar-Its a bad feeling-FGS Barrett Strong-The man up in the sky-Capitol Kev
  19. With you all the way Cliff, nagged away at me to, its hard enough reading the lyrics never mind listening to her without welling up. Great post Kev
  20. "Sweet hot lips" is good Steve, "Talk to me" is essential, regardless of price or profile (IMHO) Kev
  21. Yes Dave, know this aswell, my mate Gaz Simon put 4 of the tracks on tape for me years ago "Peace of mind" was one of em, quality again, remember Boba telling me they were from The Cabrini Green projects which looked more like a war zone when I saw a documentary about it years ago, remember thinking, if you can survive that, you can survive "The Nam" Kev
  22. I know we covered this just recently, but the 2 Vietnam ballads are the killers for me "He'll be back" and "Im so glad you waited" are sublime Kev
  23. Way to go Brian, if you are going to channel your energies in another direction can't think of a better option, its a bottomless pit, and judging by your efforts in the CD swaps, you've a great head start anyway Kev
  24. Incredible, better than George Scott IMHO, and that is saying something, immense double sider ? oh yes Kev
