  2. "Hoagy Daddy", off for a listen now, Little Richard, what a record. Kev
  3. Winstons version of course Chris as you say, great lyrics, and some good versions, but Winstons best delivery IMHO Kev
  4. Tis usually the crux of the matter Dave, nobody will tell me that Joseph Webster is a better record than Joe Tex or for example Innervision "Honey baby be mine" Kev
  5. All fantastic examples Dave, "Under the street lamp" epitomises what soul is about for me, but now Im starting to think about "Dreams of a shoeshine boy" what the hell, all brilliant goosepimple jobs Kev
  6. Joe Tex is absolutely brilliant Mal, unfortunately the price tag you put next to it will ensure it stays under the radar, how many records are like Joe Tex, James Brown "People wake up" is another that springs to mind that should be massive, suppose we've been here before, but will never move any further on Kev
  7. Defo catch up Paul, Tomo is keeping me really busy listening to a load of David Ruffin stuff at the moment, will be through to see you both next couple of weeks Best Regards Kev
  8. Been unlucky there Paul, Sam Dees, Guitar Ray and Bill Brandon were in demand from the late 80,s onwards, Stephens and Fosters stature grew a bit more recently, best example I suppose was Lee Fields "Take me back" (Tyra's Song is better imho) but the reason for that was a certain DJ deciding to play it, then all of the sheep who couldn't appreciate it as a great record previously, all started to clamour for it, not going to complain cos I did OK out of it. Kev
  9. Exactly the model that DDA implemented at Lowton which I mentioned previously, and boy did it show, brilliant Kev
  10. OOPS Well spotted Blake, sharp as ever my man Kev
  11. Yeah, comes with a stigma attached if you ask me, in the NE we are up to our necks in the nostalgia thing, every weekend too many do,s on, If asked, just say "soul music, full stop" which is the truth, stigma I suggested is, Northern Soul=flying around in 40 inch bottoms with a vest covered in badges of places they,ve never f-----g been to and an Addidas bag in tow with change of vest after they've scorched the floor to Frank Wilson. We have all that going on up here in abundance. Hate it. Kev
  12. Its the way forward Jordi, for me anyway, being a mid-tempo or even slower kind of a guy dancing ain't that important, we are all clocking on a bit aswell, Horse and Groom Doncaster is similar, only its jam packed with soul heads, bit of a dancefloor as such but can honestly say its not an essential part of the day for anybody who goes there, over the many times I have been over the last 3 years or so can,t remember dancing, but I have waited for every single record played with anticipation, just the same as everyone else, and applauded 99% of whats been played. Kev

  16. Enchanted Five, great price for fantastic double hitter Kev
  17. The Feeling Is In My Heart/Mr Teadrops-Broadmoor is essential, one of the best double headers ever Kev
  18. Probably being a bit selfish cos he's got loads of stuff I like and then some, Stevie Green from Gloucester. Incredible Group Soul collection and more Come to think about it (which I do) the whole DDA troup, Karl Rhodes, Joan Livesy and Paul Sadot were (and still are) fantastic and innovative. Agree wholeheartedly with Jim about Ady aswell, would be great to see him again Kev
  19. To be honest, sick to death of the whole Frank Wilson "Do I Love You" 25 grand(whatever it went for)circus. Kev
