  1. Fantastic price on the Jimmy Lewis, great record, flip excellent aswell, BARGAIN Kev
  2. When you watch Sam and Dave, the show they put on and the fact they hated each other, what would it have been like if they had loved each other, still. incredible, I have some other footage somewhere, where they are doing "You don,t know like i know" where the whole place is rocking (not like Norway), it drains you just watching them, INCREDIBLE Kev
  3. If its what I think it is, the Sam and Dave footage is incredible Kev
  4. Got one myself, love it, will have its day Kev
  5. Gutted, but as Sean stated we knew he was very poorly, still don't make it any easier, The Dells are the greatest vocal group ever, very versatile, but, for me when they got down and deep they were an unmoveable force, Teddy Pendergrass said in his book the first time he heard Marvin Junior live his voice shook the building, testament itself from one of the genuine greats Kev
  6. Right there Byrney, but IMHO Buddy Smith is not up for debate, plain and simply an incredible SOUL record, some might say its Northern, some would even say its Deep, rare or not rare just incredible. Antellects on the other hand does nowt for me, and can understand debate rarity over quality etc Kev
  7. That was the 1st place he tried Paul Kev
  8. Listened this morning Bob, while having my monthly bath loved Doris Duke, Barbera Mason (how good an artist is she), all the Chicago recorded Vietnam records were right up my street, some I knew, some I didn,t, hadn,t heard the Paul Smith in years, in fact I had forgot all about it, that and Kenni Lewis, it don't get much better. Great stuff Kev
  9. All 4 Paul, he loves all the Philly and Salsoul stuff (so do I ) Kev
  10. I know Paul, getting them is the problem, my brother in law wants it Kev
  11. Will listen later Bob, that playlist (the ones I know) looks awesome, looking forward to the few I know and anticipation at the one's I don't Kev
  12. Great set Sid,Debonairs-Untrue Woman, actually played out at a venue, my type of DJ, great stuff Kev
  13. Deano dancing should be a thread itself, can honestly only remember him "throwing himself about" once, (probably a couple more) and that was at Lifeline in Dewsbury, when Butch played Parliaments, "This is my rainy day" Gaz Kellet, top top man, always used to come and stand with us lads from the NE at Mexboro, Blackburn, Shotts etc and crack on about records for ages, great days, wish Gaz was still doing the rounds, us lads loved him. Kev

  22. Really well written, genuinely heartfelt and sincere, makes you want to jump on the next plane and thank them yourself, when talking about soul with people, a good friend of mine always has a question to gauge the authenticity of a persons love for soul "how many Dells albums have you got then" testament in itself Kev
  23. 5 likes for that masterpeice on a supposed hotbed of a website for Soul Music is an absolute disgrace, when these guys sing, Northern, Crossover, 60,s 70,s, funk, R&B whatever you want to call it don,t come into it, Kev
  24. 1972, that was the year they brought out to me (and theres a lot to choose from) there finest album, "Sweet as funk can be" the title really doesn't tell the story, packed with shattering ballads, Marvin usually gets the plaudits, and I believe some of his finest moments are on this set, but Johnny Carter, for me one of the greatest singers ever, dovetails as he always did magnificently with Marvin, its a set I always go back to, and no disrespect to the others, but when you listen to Marvin and Johnny dipping and soaring on "Do what you gotta do babe" and "Just as long as we're in love" its hard to put anything else on after, you just can't follow these guys, they are that good Kev
  25. Just made balls up of editing' lost Im glad and posted flip instead Kev
