  1. Agreed, the record room rules supreme Kev
  2. Got to agree with you there Col, whenever on saturday night shift always had his show on, he played some great stuff, stuff you wouldn,t expect to hear, always enjoyed the show Kev
  3. Absolutely in a nutshell Chalky, was getting pissed off with all the pointless barriers people were putting up when like you say, we all know what venue does what and does not, you can go round in circles like this has and drive yourself nuts, go where you are best suited, buy what suits YOU and f--k what anyone else says and thinks, just be true to yourself, Mike Lofthouse in post 33 sums it up aswell Kev
  4. Great show as per normal Bob, Cicero Blake does it for me every time, that intro, those strings, got to get my ass into gear and get one, think it came out on both Mar-v-lus and Renee ? Kev
  5. Played out yesterday at Horse and Groom "Brand new me" also done by Isaac Hayes, to be honest, even if he sang "ring a ring a roses" it would be good Kev
  6. Both sides absolutely brilliant Detroit belters, mid to down tempo is usually my bag but I would never sell mine Kev
  7. That sums it up exactly for me aswell Mike, carries on really from discussions yesterday at Doncaster Kev
  8. Brilliant, James Dee-Jealous over love is a must have for any real SOUL collection Kev
  9. I reckon 90 mins tops Steve (on the train) Kev
  10. Hi Paul Got home OK, went for a curry to top the perfect day, Hard Tymes, had it on CD for a while courtesy of Bully , knocked me for 6 to hear it out, shouldn,t have been suprised though, H&G has done that to me on countless occasions Kev
  11. Lordy lordy, incredible once again, we got there at 12, you can see why by the playlist, we daren,t miss a record, the lads excelled again, they always choose the right guests aswell who bring something else to the party, all being soulful of course, really hard to pick a record of the day but if pushed Hard Tymes-I ask a question played by Mark, with the exception of Just Soul and the Jim Wray lounge, you will not here stuff like that anywhere, awesome, just like the whole day (BTW, the real ale is getting better and better, think me and Mike Lofthouse drank a full barrel) Kev
  12. Brilliant !! particular faves, Eric Mitchell, Bobby McClure, Dave Brady and Jhamels Kev
  13. Another two beauties, love them Kev
  14. Two absolute beauties Rich, new to me, however "What can I tell her", I am sure I have heard this by somebody else, brilliant ! Kev
  15. Great read Paul, tickets in the bag, thought our chance had gone back in 2011, sure it will be worth the wait Kev
  16. There are places to go where this thing doesn,t happen, where people don,t demand the same old same old, don,t don the uniform, don,t panic when the floor isn,t full, embrace sounds they haven,t heard before, seek and you will find, or does it make some people feel good about themselves surrounding themselves with all this shite that has been going down since the turn of the century, cut yourself adrift, they have their own scene, don,t associate with it. Kev
  17. Simple solution, we all have a good idea where this kind of thing is going to crop up, so let them get on with it and don,t go Kev
  18. See you in April Mike (actually see you October 20th) Kev
  19. Hi Tezza, depends if you bought your records because YOU loved them, or in the hope other people would. Is it a compilation of records to DJ with, or a personal collection. If you love your records and love soul, cherish them and play them in your record room, do CD,s of the same stuff as the 3 or 4 you played out the other night and send them to like minded mates and associates who in return will return the favour, don,t let the sheep get you down mate, keep them, move stuff on you have had forever and buy other stuff that floats YOUR boat. Kev
  20. Sass, brilliant and starting (at last) to catch on,great price on the Lee Williams aswell, another quality tune Kev
  21. 5 years, unbelievable, favourites :- Where Did You Go The Way Nature Planned It In These Changing Times This Guys In Love With You (what a version) All I Do (is think about you) Tomo from the Boro showed me a Youtube clip that will stay with me forever, Aretha gets a clearly unwell Levi to join her on the stage, he is wheel chair bound and when he comes out is crying his eyes out, obviously overwhelmed by the ovation he so rightly gets, him and Aretha sing through his tears, emotional and heartbreaking Kev
  22. Hi Paul Geoff is still around, think he distributes wine now for a living, remember going back to the days of the shop, 1982 I think it was when he was selling those cut outs, Ralph Graham, Walter Heath, Dells, New Birth etc, I got loads and during the course of time gave loads away to the extent that when I went to dig Ralph Graham out I found that I had given them all away and not kept one gutted Great days indeed Kev
  23. Remember Rumbelows in Aycliffe town centre Paul, thats where mine came from. William Devaughn, "Be Thankfull" on Chelsea aswell. Kev
  24. Fantastic album, cherished it and played it for best part of 30 years Kev
  25. Hi Ali See you at Just Soul, October 26th, Horse and Groom 20th, or Wilton, November 9th x
