  1. Bang on the money Spice Girl double sider that has stood the test of time Kev
  2. Must admit it was 1989 when we were there (Lou Silvani) and he came over quite paranoid about people messing with his filing system so its no suprise he only does mail order now Best Kev
  3. Don,t know if he is still there, Lou Silvani, Riverdale, North Bronx, worth a punt if you can locate it Kev
  4. To those people who say they don,t like albums but say they like soul just say "imagine if there were no albums, no Sam Dees Show must go on, no Marvin Gaye Whats going on" to me, someone saying they are in to soul, but don,t like albums is a total contradiction, if you don,t like albums, then you ain,t really into soul IMHO Kev
  5. Sorry for sounding negative chaps but its something about the "scene" that has bugged me and influenced my whole thinking about it, as time went on I got to realise that it wasn,t what was playing but rather "who" was playing it. Sick of hearing about so called "Big" DJ playing cheap record then everyone saying he,s "innovative" or and "cutting edge" when the same record (and more alike) being played by someone else, reaction being a few admiring nods of the head by a few but mostly, total ignorance to the "insignificant small fry" in my book, the "small fry" is the innovative one, rather than the obvious playing of trophy records which isn,t really clever (to me that is) A lot of the threads on here now in my opinion lead to the same conclusion, most people are influenced by "who" and not "what", hence the ever more frequently used term "sheep" Kev
  6. It was, for years
  7. Great pick Len, there,s 1000,s of records of the like out there, unfortunately, not rare enough for the sheep or BIG DJ hangers-on, so like the Festivals, will be confined to the record room and the few innovative venues Kev
  8. Bargain, great deep flip aswell Kev
  9. Predominantly, the sheep shape the so called scene, a lot of folk pissed off with it all, with their own minds and good taste have naffed off to congregate at places frequented by like minded soul fans who don,t need telling what is and what isn,t a good soul record Kev (sorry if its a bit abrupt but I am on nights and pissed off)
  10. Agreed, the record room rules supreme Kev
  11. Got to agree with you there Col, whenever on saturday night shift always had his show on, he played some great stuff, stuff you wouldn,t expect to hear, always enjoyed the show Kev
  12. Absolutely in a nutshell Chalky, was getting pissed off with all the pointless barriers people were putting up when like you say, we all know what venue does what and does not, you can go round in circles like this has and drive yourself nuts, go where you are best suited, buy what suits YOU and f--k what anyone else says and thinks, just be true to yourself, Mike Lofthouse in post 33 sums it up aswell Kev
  13. Great show as per normal Bob, Cicero Blake does it for me every time, that intro, those strings, got to get my ass into gear and get one, think it came out on both Mar-v-lus and Renee ? Kev
  14. Played out yesterday at Horse and Groom "Brand new me" also done by Isaac Hayes, to be honest, even if he sang "ring a ring a roses" it would be good Kev
  15. Both sides absolutely brilliant Detroit belters, mid to down tempo is usually my bag but I would never sell mine Kev
  16. That sums it up exactly for me aswell Mike, carries on really from discussions yesterday at Doncaster Kev
  17. Brilliant, James Dee-Jealous over love is a must have for any real SOUL collection Kev
  18. I reckon 90 mins tops Steve (on the train) Kev
  19. Hi Paul Got home OK, went for a curry to top the perfect day, Hard Tymes, had it on CD for a while courtesy of Bully , knocked me for 6 to hear it out, shouldn,t have been suprised though, H&G has done that to me on countless occasions Kev
  20. Lordy lordy, incredible once again, we got there at 12, you can see why by the playlist, we daren,t miss a record, the lads excelled again, they always choose the right guests aswell who bring something else to the party, all being soulful of course, really hard to pick a record of the day but if pushed Hard Tymes-I ask a question played by Mark, with the exception of Just Soul and the Jim Wray lounge, you will not here stuff like that anywhere, awesome, just like the whole day (BTW, the real ale is getting better and better, think me and Mike Lofthouse drank a full barrel) Kev
  21. Brilliant !! particular faves, Eric Mitchell, Bobby McClure, Dave Brady and Jhamels Kev
  22. Another two beauties, love them Kev
  23. Two absolute beauties Rich, new to me, however "What can I tell her", I am sure I have heard this by somebody else, brilliant ! Kev
  24. Great read Paul, tickets in the bag, thought our chance had gone back in 2011, sure it will be worth the wait Kev
  25. There are places to go where this thing doesn,t happen, where people don,t demand the same old same old, don,t don the uniform, don,t panic when the floor isn,t full, embrace sounds they haven,t heard before, seek and you will find, or does it make some people feel good about themselves surrounding themselves with all this shite that has been going down since the turn of the century, cut yourself adrift, they have their own scene, don,t associate with it. Kev
