  1. Got a fair few on the Carnival label, took my time getting this beauty, George Smith in great form, as he always was, one of my favourite singers, great loss when he died in 1970 Manhattans-I'm the one love forgot-Carnival https://youtu.be/_zqgb7KsAhw
  2. Going off the stuff you put on CD and your recent playlist Samantha, its definitely your kinda do. If you set off from Oz on the friday before the next one on Dec 15th gives you enough time to get over the jet lag to enjoy Oh, and bring John Phillips with you Kev
  3. Some great stuff played there, however, thought Samantha would have played the incredible Bernard Drake "I've been untrue" Kev
  4. Make that time Mike, you know its the right thing to do Best Kev

  18. Must admit it was 1989 when we were there (Lou Silvani) and he came over quite paranoid about people messing with his filing system so its no suprise he only does mail order now Best Kev
  19. Don,t know if he is still there, Lou Silvani, Riverdale, North Bronx, worth a punt if you can locate it Kev
  20. To those people who say they don,t like albums but say they like soul just say "imagine if there were no albums, no Sam Dees Show must go on, no Marvin Gaye Whats going on" to me, someone saying they are in to soul, but don,t like albums is a total contradiction, if you don,t like albums, then you ain,t really into soul IMHO Kev
  21. Sorry for sounding negative chaps but its something about the "scene" that has bugged me and influenced my whole thinking about it, as time went on I got to realise that it wasn,t what was playing but rather "who" was playing it. Sick of hearing about so called "Big" DJ playing cheap record then everyone saying he,s "innovative" or and "cutting edge" when the same record (and more alike) being played by someone else, reaction being a few admiring nods of the head by a few but mostly, total ignorance to the "insignificant small fry" in my book, the "small fry" is the innovative one, rather than the obvious playing of trophy records which isn,t really clever (to me that is) A lot of the threads on here now in my opinion lead to the same conclusion, most people are influenced by "who" and not "what", hence the ever more frequently used term "sheep" Kev
  22. It was, for years
  23. Great pick Len, there,s 1000,s of records of the like out there, unfortunately, not rare enough for the sheep or BIG DJ hangers-on, so like the Festivals, will be confined to the record room and the few innovative venues Kev
  24. Bargain, great deep flip aswell Kev
  25. Predominantly, the sheep shape the so called scene, a lot of folk pissed off with it all, with their own minds and good taste have naffed off to congregate at places frequented by like minded soul fans who don,t need telling what is and what isn,t a good soul record Kev (sorry if its a bit abrupt but I am on nights and pissed off)
