  1. New to me Marc, fantastic, the horns are marvellous, lovely mid-tempo cross over, thanks for posting Kev
  2. Great version Dave, new to me, the Lew Kirton driven Invitations version on SBR is also worth checking out Kev
  3. Notations, great record Chalky, and worthy of your opinion, this, however, no chance of a venue outing is my favourite, been looking for ages but its tough and maybe out of my price bracket, think a lot of Sweet Soulers who haven't heard it will love it, therefore a hit IMHO The Whole Truth-Can you lose-EFE Kev
  4. Now sorted thanks Kev
  5. Highlighters-Have a little faith-Lulu Soul Meditations-Someone to hold me-Ovide Frank Tenella-You came along and changed my life-Odex Sass-I only wanted to love you-20th Century James Brown-People wake up and give youself a chance-Polydor (Album) In the record room Kev
  6. Incredible record Kev
  7. Must have been a few in for it, don,t understand the right or wrong version? I know Brett's is different (not that much) personally I like both takes, and it matters little to me that I have the wrong take Kev
  8. Going to use a swear word hear "Album track" seen it mentioned as an option, my choice, as Nev so rightly tipped their latest, Notations, some have tried with this I know, but I reckon if this was on a 45, a lot more people would be talking about it Notations-There I go-Gemigo Kev
  9. Been browsing in the record room, dug the "Body Heat" album out, this is the track before "People wake up and give yourself a chance", only James Brown (and maybe Ike Hayes) could take a Bacharach/David standard and totally make it their own. Fantastic, the last minute and a half is particularly incredible Kev
  10. Good post Dave, I think most peoples perceptions of records "making it" on here is if it was played out to the masses and achieved dancefloor recognition, as far as I see it, if someone recommends something and there is a few who don't know it and love it, then for me its made it, dancefloor or not, great thread to check stuff out you might not know, just like the Record Club on here, I certainly love the slower side of soul, so realistically, Jim Wray lounge or Horse and Groom, Doncaster and Filthy are the only places I will here that kind of stuff (at a venue). Sure, records could have been played 10 years ago to a limited audience to minimal success, but a tip now might be a better time for that particular record to prosper, great thread IMHO, a great way to share records which is why I reckon Sean set the thread away in the first place Kev
  11. Will do my man, lets get it sorted Kev
  12. Absolutely brilliant Paul, Tomo put this on a CD for me a couple of years ago, is it an album track. BTW, hope you and Debbie are well Best Kev
  13. Don,t think this is that well known, wouldn't surprise me though if it had some success somewhere, FJ Jones-Gone and found another-PS Kev
  14. Just seen this thread Andy, personal faves for me, "I'll do anything for you" "Peaceful" and this with The Unifics Rest in peace Al Kev
  15. Missing the point, of course we buy records that we have heard elsewhere, its the buying because its deemed a "trophy" regardless of if its good or not, the desire coming from the fact that other people want it, "oooh, that must be rare, where's me cheque book" Kev
  16. Sums up the whole shallow business Steve, sort of, people want records because other people want them, where,s peoples imagination and taste ? my previous post wasn't aimed at anyone, just the scenario as a whole Kev
  17. Way to go Billy Mac good set mate, hope you are well, might see you in June Best Kev
  18. Posted at last on the tube, listen and weep (genuine soul fans) "The number 1 soul brother Mr James Brown" Kev
  19. Its on the "Bodyheat" album John Kev
  20. This is the album only take Dave, as you say, fookin brilliant Kev
