rip Phil Joss
Everybody here is still trying to take this in Harry. Such a popular infectious character, everyone was just talking to him the other day. He was as happy as he has ever been when he was tragically taken, him and Lydia enjoying each other and life to the full, lets not forget he was a cracking little footballer aswell, played for me on a sunday morning for years, whenever we got ourselves in the shit (and it was often) Phil would dig us out of it single handed with his dazzling wing play to the extent I would be shouting and screaming at the others to give him a week off, but, he loved doing it I think, and wouldn't have had it any other way. He was bang into collecting records again, remember him excitingly telling me in Tesco that he had just acquired a demo of The Casanova Two, was DJing at a few venues aswell. We will all miss him, that is not a throw away cliche, the man is that popular. God bless you Phil Kev

Non soul play
Don't think the yardstick should be whether the singer is white, although the examples rightly submitted are predominantly white, I think, especially where vocal groups are concerned, we would be surprised at some great soul records would probably turn out to be white groups, Temptones for example, white, but certainly not pop Kev

Bbc Four Tonight 9.00Pm- Old Grey Whistle Test
Out of the stuff worth watching and listening to I only caught Curtis, it was fantastic to see and hear that distinctive and beautiful Curtom sound in all its glory blending with the genius that is Curtis Mayfield. Kev

Underground, Overground Wom
We had the same problem with Newton Aycliffe Byrney, I don,t mind a history lesson, as long as the lecturer has their facts in front of them, 80,s and early 90,s were given a wide birth

Underground, Overground Wom
I think you have already stated it somewhere Byrney and I agree totally, mid 80,s to mid 90,s, before the nostalgia circus rocked up at a town near everywhere

Rare and incredibly good Steve, both sides, Boba (how we miss him) told me he thought it to be arguably the greatest Sweet Soul record ever, I think you should hang on to yours for dear life (unless you want to sell it to me) Kev

The Sunday Soul Sessions Kettering May 2015
Once again I can say I don't know 70% of the tracks, these guys are keeping it fresh alright, great set from Chris, Soul Children he mentions "Midnight Sunshine" and his own play Al Hudson "Almost ain't good enough" amongst others, with that calibre of soul being played, will have to rustle up a party to come down. Great stuff again lads Kev
