  6. Great listening to stuff like this on the CD's Chris, but listening to it on a system with a beer in your hand and like minded soul fans, well, it don't get better than that, Brian and Steve deserve massive credit for sticking to their guns and having the cojones to stay with it. Fantastic stuff all round Kev

  12. Freddie Hughes was one half of the Casanova Two I reckon John, It definitely sounds like him, and he wrote it, BTW, I thought it was easy to tell visually aswell as sound, I have had both boots, white and orange and have an original, the print and overall look of the original is a lot more sharper and proper looking
  13. Its always a wrench when we can't make it, another incredible mix of all things soulful, but even bigger wrench this time seeing we missed Flanny, great stuff again lads, temporary loan of seats has expired, see you all in August Kev

  15. Everybody here is still trying to take this in Harry. Such a popular infectious character, everyone was just talking to him the other day. He was as happy as he has ever been when he was tragically taken, him and Lydia enjoying each other and life to the full, lets not forget he was a cracking little footballer aswell, played for me on a sunday morning for years, whenever we got ourselves in the shit (and it was often) Phil would dig us out of it single handed with his dazzling wing play to the extent I would be shouting and screaming at the others to give him a week off, but, he loved doing it I think, and wouldn't have had it any other way. He was bang into collecting records again, remember him excitingly telling me in Tesco that he had just acquired a demo of The Casanova Two, was DJing at a few venues aswell. We will all miss him, that is not a throw away cliche, the man is that popular. God bless you Phil Kev
  16. Don't think the yardstick should be whether the singer is white, although the examples rightly submitted are predominantly white, I think, especially where vocal groups are concerned, we would be surprised at some great soul records would probably turn out to be white groups, Temptones for example, white, but certainly not pop Kev
  17. Out of the stuff worth watching and listening to I only caught Curtis, it was fantastic to see and hear that distinctive and beautiful Curtom sound in all its glory blending with the genius that is Curtis Mayfield. Kev

  22. We had the same problem with Newton Aycliffe Byrney, I don,t mind a history lesson, as long as the lecturer has their facts in front of them, 80,s and early 90,s were given a wide birth
  23. In a nut shell Chalkster Enough said, lets move on
  24. I think you have already stated it somewhere Byrney and I agree totally, mid 80,s to mid 90,s, before the nostalgia circus rocked up at a town near everywhere
