  1. Superb playlists, some real thinking outside the box stuff in all the sets
  2. Still looking, unashamed bump Kev
  3. And Dave has 2 in his great spot Chris, Chubby being their previous name Kev
  4. Freddie Hughes was one half of the Casanova Two I reckon John, It definitely sounds like him, and he wrote it, BTW, I thought it was easy to tell visually aswell as sound, I have had both boots, white and orange and have an original, the print and overall look of the original is a lot more sharper and proper looking
  5. Its always a wrench when we can't make it, another incredible mix of all things soulful, but even bigger wrench this time seeing we missed Flanny, great stuff again lads, temporary loan of seats has expired, see you all in August Kev
  6. Still on the look out for this Please PM If you can help Kev
  7. Everybody here is still trying to take this in Harry. Such a popular infectious character, everyone was just talking to him the other day. He was as happy as he has ever been when he was tragically taken, him and Lydia enjoying each other and life to the full, lets not forget he was a cracking little footballer aswell, played for me on a sunday morning for years, whenever we got ourselves in the shit (and it was often) Phil would dig us out of it single handed with his dazzling wing play to the extent I would be shouting and screaming at the others to give him a week off, but, he loved doing it I think, and wouldn't have had it any other way. He was bang into collecting records again, remember him excitingly telling me in Tesco that he had just acquired a demo of The Casanova Two, was DJing at a few venues aswell. We will all miss him, that is not a throw away cliche, the man is that popular. God bless you Phil Kev
  8. Don't think the yardstick should be whether the singer is white, although the examples rightly submitted are predominantly white, I think, especially where vocal groups are concerned, we would be surprised at some great soul records would probably turn out to be white groups, Temptones for example, white, but certainly not pop Kev
  9. Out of the stuff worth watching and listening to I only caught Curtis, it was fantastic to see and hear that distinctive and beautiful Curtom sound in all its glory blending with the genius that is Curtis Mayfield. Kev
  10. She also fronted Brainstorm aswell Mike, fantastic singer
  11. Thoroughly enjoyable Rob, some great stuff on there new to me Kev

  13. Great sets Dave, Tommy Tate and Congenial Four big faves in this house, must have sounded great pl;ayed out
  14. We had the same problem with Newton Aycliffe Byrney, I don,t mind a history lesson, as long as the lecturer has their facts in front of them, 80,s and early 90,s were given a wide birth
  15. In a nut shell Chalkster Enough said, lets move on
  16. I think you have already stated it somewhere Byrney and I agree totally, mid 80,s to mid 90,s, before the nostalgia circus rocked up at a town near everywhere
  17. Still looking for this, PM If you can help Kev
  18. Rare and incredibly good Steve, both sides, Boba (how we miss him) told me he thought it to be arguably the greatest Sweet Soul record ever, I think you should hang on to yours for dear life (unless you want to sell it to me) Kev
  19. Take it we are talking about "Color one tear black" Glyn, both sides in big demand, Sweet Soul collectors holy grail and the latin dance flip, never comes up, not surprised even in that condition that its fetching that much Kev
  20. Looking for Individuals-May I-Fresh Please PM If you can help Kev

    BB King Rip

Just Like his namesake Ben. E, an undeniable legend, got some of his stuff and I love it, thanks for an incredible contribution to soul/blues music over an incredible amount of time, the mark of a genuine legend. R.I.P. B.B
  22. Got 3 by the Four Mints, "You want to come back" "Row my boat" and "Can't get strung out" all with great flips aswell, all play loud and clear, 3 great records and all pretty easy to get, looks like a quality label
  23. If it turned up on Manny's auction it would make that look like short change
  24. I've seen the playlist Andy, superb
  25. Once again I can say I don't know 70% of the tracks, these guys are keeping it fresh alright, great set from Chris, Soul Children he mentions "Midnight Sunshine" and his own play Al Hudson "Almost ain't good enough" amongst others, with that calibre of soul being played, will have to rustle up a party to come down. Great stuff again lads Kev
