Almost half way through January already and I'm only now posting up the "most liked" photo for last month. That honour goes to @Winsford Soul for his classic capture of a robin. Congratulation, and well done!

DJ Re-service on record label meaning?
Amsterdam Russ replied to Fishdockroad's topic in Look At Your Box
As I understand it, "re-service" copies are ones that were sent out in a second wave of promotion by record companies some weeks after the first - presumably in the hope of getting extra airplay after the first wave of promotion failed to get sufficient exposure and make the song the hit the label sought. -
Lost a record for a couple of years. Just couldn’t find it anywhere. Then out of the blue I had a thought. In a lock-up I had carrier bags full of old record mailers - packaging for the 45s I’d received through the post. Sure enough, after a good trawl through the mailers there it was. Clearly I’d put the 45 back in the mailer after it had arrived in the post, and then dumped that with all the other mailers. Just as well I have a habit of keeping old record packaging and didn’t send it for recycling.

Amsterdam Russ replied to Seano's topic in Look At Your Box
Already being resold at the £70-80 mark by those who picked up multiple copies... -
Nice, but let’s please stick to photography. Thanks for your understanding.

And indeed, a Happy New Year to everyone on Soul Source! Hopes and dreams? to get over current health situation as quickly as possible to become way more active physically in 2019 than I was last year to find out what my actual rights and status will be as a Brit expat in the Netherlands post Brexit to improve my crap Dutch I think that’s enough to be getting on with. Best wishes to you all in achieving your own hopes and dreams.

A new year, a new photography thread! Thanks to everyone who's participated in these threads, whether as a photographic contributor, a commenter, or as someone who just pops in from time to time to admire the latest offerings. The Soul Source photography thread now enters its sixth year (well, technically it started life in April of 2013, but who cares?), which I think is amazing. As I mentioned in the last post of the 2018 thread, its longevity is entirely down to you and your continued involvement, so thank you one and all for making this a real highlight for so long. Cheers, and here's to another photo-filled year!
-
Thank you, Steve. That’s much appreciated. While I might have started the photography thread back in 2013 (was it really that long ago??), what’s kept it going strong is an endless stream of brilliant pics from so many Soul Source members. If we weren’t all curious to see the latest additions, or be so eager to add our own, the thread would have died ages ago. But it continues to go from strength to strength - and long may that continue! Given it’s the first day of a new year, I’ll start up the 2019 thread shortly...

Yup, can't do without the pic sleeve.
-
To the best of my knowledge, he didn't.

Returning to France, here's Claude Francois and his version of the Frankie Valli/Timebox classic "Beggin'"...
-
Bit of a cheat here... While this is a French-language tune, and is described as such in the vid, in reality it's actually French-Canadian. Probably only released in the French-speaking Quebec region of the country, the 45 – which comes with a picture sleeve – is a tough one to track down and is sought after on the Belgian Popcorn scene.
-
And here's Paul Anka singing a tune called "Sei piu forte di me" (You're stronger than me). This pre-dates Rufus Lumley's version by two years.
-
There are loads of French-language covers of soul tunes, all sung in the native tongue and with lyrics completely unrelated to the original song. Here's Nicoletta singing a little ditty called "Live your life"...

Got to give huge amounts of kudos to this absolute incredible gospel stormer... I mean really, just WOW!!! -
Thank you! Can I also remind people that this is a photography thread - and not just pictures of "anything"! Please continue to post the great photos you've taken with your camera - because you thought it was photogenic and worthy of sharing.

In contrast to the warmth of the sunset, this was this morning’s view. It’s a bit after 3 o’clock now and it still looks the same out there.

pva glue record upgrade or scrapping
Amsterdam Russ replied to Geobuch335's topic in Look At Your Box
Wood glue needs to be left for around 24hrs, or until the glue turns transparent. Also, the glue needs to be spread over the playing surface thickly as per this pic, which I took 7-8 years back. There are some old threads on Soul Source that cover the subject of wood glue. Here's one of them: -
From Sky News: "Fans of nature photography are being given the chance to pick a picture to be included in the full Wildlife Photographer Of The Year 2018 exhibition at the Natural History Museum." Well worth a look as some of the photos are really rather stunning. At the same time, the photo of the polar bear is very sad. https://news.sky.com/story/vote-for-your-favourite-wildlife-photo-of-2018-11570731

We have two winners for November's "Most-liked photos of the month". Step forward @Mal C and @Andrew Jordan. Interestingly and coincidentally, Mal's and Andrew's photos were taken in Cornwall. Congratulations to you both, and well done to everyone for the impressive number of outstanding photos you all posted!
